Where is the windows 10 administrator password. How to easily reset a forgotten password in any version of Windows

As in the previous version of the OS, in Windows 10, when logging in, two methods of user authorization are used - through a Microsoft account and through a local account. Next, we will tell you how to reset the administrator password in both cases, if the latter has forgotten it, and how to create a disk, a special flash drive or other media, the capabilities of which allow you to recover account data.

The most effective and most importantly secure way would be to reset your password using Windows Password Reset Ultimate.

Changing the local account password

To reset the Windows 10 user password, you need an installation or boot disk. You need to go to the command line mode:

You can get to the command line easier if, when entering from the installation drive, when a window appears with the option to select a language, press Shift and F10 at the same time. If this method does not work, you will have to proceed as described above.

After the window opens, enter in sequence (pressing Enter each time):

These records will bring you a list of HDD partitions. You need to select the disk with the installed Windows 10 from them and remember the letter of the partition. Moreover, it will not necessarily be the letter C. The system partition can be designated, for example, with the letter D, which we will use to enter the following commands:

  • move d: \\ windows \\ system32 \\ utilman.exe d: \\ windows \\ system32 \\ utilman1.exe;
  • copy d: \\ windows \\ system32 \\ cmd.exe d: \\ windows \\ system32 \\ utilman.exe.

Recall that instead of entering punctuation marks at the end of each line, press Enter. With these actions, we simply copied the cmd.exe file in the system32 directory and changed the name to utilman.exe.

If after executing the above commands, if you see messages about the successful movement and copying of files, then enter the line wpeutil reboot, after which the computer will reboot. Next, you need to download Windows 10 in the usual way, for which you remove the installation disc from a DVD drive or a USB flash drive from the USB connector.

After the download is complete:

  1. In the user authorization window, select the special icon. opportunities located on the bottom right.
  2. On the command line, write:
    • net user name is a password, where as a name you need to enter a login to an account in Windows 10, and as a password - a combination of characters, which you will then use.
  3. Hit Enter.

If the administrator's name is more than one word, enter it in quotation marks. If necessary, you can recall it by entering the command net users - a list of each user on the system will be displayed.

Creating a password reset disk

It is possible to foresee the possibility of resetting the password for the administrator account in Windows 10, however, only local, until the user has forgotten it. For this, a special medium is created - it can even be a floppy disk:

  1. Insert the drive into the drive;
  2. Go to the user account component, for which open "Start" and click on the control panel;
  3. In the left column, click on the link that creates the administrator password reset disk; (5)
  4. A special wizard will open, following the instructions of which you can create the tool you need.

It is important that the flash drive is not formatted during operation, no information is deleted from it. Will just be created new file userkey.psw, which, if necessary, can be transferred to a disk or any other medium - it will work exactly the same.

Using the created drive in Windows 10 is also simple. For this:

  1. A USB flash drive or disk created to reset the administrator password is inserted into the USB port or drive, respectively;
  2. Incorrect account information is entered in the form;
  3. Below the input form, you will see a link to reset the data.

Will open special application, as a result of following the instructions of which the accounting information will again become available to you.

Account recovery app

A simple free program Online NT Password & Registry Editor can also be used for this. To place it, you can use a regular flash drive, which can be easily used if necessary. The disk burn ISO or USB transfer files can be downloaded from http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html.

Go to it and do the following:

Resetting Microsoft Online Account

The described methods will not help if you use a Microsoft user account to log into Windows 10. However, resetting this data is even easier. This can be done, for example, on another computer, laptop or even a phone with the Internet. If you can also log in from your PC's lock screen, you can also use it. For this:

If you specify a mail, an email will be sent to it with a link to reset the current data to Microsoft. A verification code will be sent to the phone, which can also be used to return data to your Windows 10 administrator account.

How to reset Windows 10 password

Every person at least once in his life has come across the fact that the password for a PC, laptop, OS or social network is lost or forgotten. According to statistics, every 3rd password has to be restored, and every 10th password cannot be restored by the user for one reason or another. In this article, we will look at how to reset (delete) a password on Windows 10. All the described methods do not depend on which account you use, which means that our tips are suitable for all users: for those who use a Microsoft account, and those who have a local "account". The process described is very similar to resetting a password on older versions of Windows, but with some differences.

Note! Before resetting your password due to the fact that your current password has ceased to fit, we recommend that you carefully try again to enter the password with the Caps Lock turned off and then on in the Russian and English layout. In some cases, it is these simple steps that help.

Resetting your Microsoft account using an online service. Login to Windows 10 without password: 1 way

This method can be used when you need to reset your Microsoft account when you're signed in on a different device. In this case, the device from which you are logged in must be connected to the Internet. In this situation, a password reset is performed on the Microsoft site in accordance with company policy. You can create a new password from any device.

  • To reset your account, go to the next page.
  • Next, you need to click on one of the options, in this case - “I do not remember my password”.

  • After that, you need to enter your email address or phone number that you indicated during the registration process. You will be prompted to enter a captcha, and then follow the site's instructions, which will be displayed on the screen.

Note! Before you start resetting your account, make sure you have access to the email address or phone number indicated during registration!

After completing the entire procedure, we connect to the World Wide Web using the lock screen and enter our new password, which must be remembered.

Change the password using the existing computer administrator account. Login to Windows 10 without password: 2 way

To take away windows password 10 you must have one of these tools:

  • Live CD that loads and opens the file system through a special operating system disk (does not require installation on a PC);
  • A disk or flash drive used for OS recovery, or a disk that contains the Windows 10 operating system.

Consider the option in which we have a bootable USB flash drive with Windows. When the prompt to select the installation language appears on the screen, you must simultaneously press and hold the key combination: Shift and F10 for several seconds. This action will launch the command line. Then write the following commands in sequence:

After entering each command, press “Enter” is required.

  • All partitions of the hard disk will be displayed in the window that appears. It is necessary to remember the letter of the partition where Windows is installed (in most cases it is C, but not always!). After that we enter the “Exit“ command and press the Enter key. In this example, the OS is installed on the C drive, so this letter will appear in the further description of the process.

We enter the following commands:

  1. “Move c: \\ windows \\ system32 \\ utilman.exe c: \\ windows \\ system32 \\ utilman2.exe”
  2. "Copy c: \\ windows \\ system32 \\ cmd.exe c: \\ windows \\ system32 \\ utilman.exe"
  3. And then we register the command “wpeutil reboot“ (reboot the PC). The reboot can be done in any other way. After rebooting, the PC must boot into the installed OS.

Important! If instead of the installation disc you use any other tool, then using the method described above, copy the file “cmd.exe“ into the “system32” folder, saving it as “utilman.exe“.

  • After loading the system, the initial authorization screen will appear, where from the bottom right you need to click on "Accessibility" A command line window will open, in which you need to write the following command:

"Net user Administrator / active: yes"

Note! The word "Administrator" in the OS for other languages \u200b\u200bmay differ. For example, for the English version, you need to enter the word “Administrator“.

  • After executing the command and restarting the PC (if required), a menu for selecting accounts appears. Here you need to select an account under the administrator's name and log in without entering a password.

  • Please note that the first login to your account can take significantly longer than usual.

Setting a new PC account password

  • After completing the login, right-click on the “Start” menu and enter “Computer Management”. On the left side of the monitor, expand the “Local Users” subsection and select the “Users” folder. Here you need to right-click on the name for which we are resetting the password and click on “set password”.

  • A window will then appear containing a warning that you must read carefully. Click on “Continue” if you agree with the warning.

  • Now you can set a new password for the selected “account”. The password will need to be repeated two times and click "OK".

You can delete (change) the Windows 10 password using the above method only in the case of local accounts. In the case of Microsoft accounts, the password must be reset through the company's website, as described in the first method at the beginning of the article. The second method also allows you to create a new account for a new user by logging in as an administrator for this PC.

Using the last method, you must remember that for the stable operation of the system it is better to return everything back, as it was before the password reset procedure. To do this, you need to disable the administrator account using the command line:

"Net user Administrator / active: no"

You also need to delete the folder “utilman.exe“ in “System 32“, which we renamed earlier. Thus, you can restore access to Windows and restore your PC to work.

How to Reset Windows 10 Password | Computer for dummies

Security concerns lead some PC users to password protect their accounts. It can be either a laptop, which is sometimes left unattended in a public place, or an account with broad administrator rights, protected by a password from children or inept computer users. A work computer often also has a password, and here it is no longer necessary to explain why. Of course, like any other very important information, the password tends to be forgotten. Especially if you are in the habit of regularly updating it, then it is difficult to come up with a good association every time. It may happen that you changed your password in the evening, and in the morning you don't remember it anymore. Most often, this happens, because a long-established password is already entered by fingers automatically, and a fresh one tends to be forgotten. Anyway, forgotten password will not let you log in. This article will help you reset it if you don't have a password reset flash drive. Otherwise, just insert the USB flash drive and click "Reset password" under the input field, follow the instructions of the wizard.

If your PC's purpose goes beyond simple home use, read on the Internet for all the implications of a password reset that might affect you.

Gaining access to the system

There are two types of accounts in Windows 10: Microsoft account and local. The process of restoring to the first is pretty simple, so let's talk about the second for now. The local recording password can be reset in several ways. They differ in the software used and the complexity. Our instructions will tell you about the most easy way, and the reset process will consist of two stages: gaining access to the system and actually resetting the password of a specific user. First, let's find a way to log into the system with administrator rights. Having received administrator access, proceed to the second part of the article.

Password reset

A trivial procedure when there is access to the system. Follow these steps:

Reset Microsoft account password

If you have a Microsoft account and your computer is connected to the Internet, you can reset your password from any other device, even a smartphone. To do this, go to https://account.live.com/resetpassword.aspx and follow the instructions.

Step 2: Recover the password of the built-in Windows 10 Administrator account

Are you looking for a way to recover your Windows 10 Administrator account password? Do the following:

Step 3: Programs for recovering Windows 10 account passwords

Recovering passwords for Windows 10 accounts can be done using special programs for resetting or recovering passwords. Such programs are especially relevant in case of losing the password of the Administrator account (since the passwords of other accounts can be reset using this account).

For this:

  • Download and install a program to reset or recover account passwords.
  • Create a bootable CD with such a program, DVD disc or USB drive (if necessary).
  • Restart your computer and boot from the created bootable media.
  • Reset or recover passwords for the required account.

Step 4: Recover a forgotten user password using Windows 10

Before you start recovering a password for a user account, check the password hint located on the welcome screen next to the password field.

If the hint did not help you remember your password:

Step 5: Windows 10 password recovery boot disk or flash drive

You can create a boot disk for password recovery yourself or use a ready-made option (which can be purchased or downloaded).

Recover password using LiveCD

The account password can be restored by starting the computer using the LiveCD - an alternative portable version of the operating system. This method is useful if you cannot boot your computer or connect hDD to another system.

For this:

Use an image of the installation disk

If for some reason you did not create a system recovery disk, and Windows has lost its functionality, then it can be restored using an image of the operating system recovery disk.

Such an image can be created immediately after installing the OS and software or at any other time.

You can download a free utility from Microsoft and create an image. To do this, do the following:

Note. Do not run the system repair disc from working windows... To use it correctly, install the system image media in BIOS as the first boot device and restart the computer.

Important: It is necessary to create an image only on a working system that is not infected with viruses and does not contain errors. After restoring, you will receive an exact copy of the system at the time of its creation.

Step 6: Recover access to your account on the Microsoft website

In recent versions of Windows, the user account is integrated with the Microsoft account. To manage some functions of the Windows account, to work with the operating system and to configure it, access to it is required.

If you need to restore access to your Microsoft account:

Step 7: Perform a clean install of Windows

In case none of the above methods led to the desired result, reinstall Windows.

In order to perform a clean installation of Windows, you must create an installation disk or other media from which you plan to install the operating system.

Boot your computer from the installation disc. This may require changing the boot order in the BIOS (or UEFI for more modern computers).

Following the installer menu items, select the drive where you want to install Windows. To do this, you need to format it. If you are not satisfied with the number or size of local drives, you can completely remove them and repartition them.

Remember that formatting, deleting, or reallocating disks will delete all files from hard disk.

After specifying the disk for installing Windows, the copying process will start system files and operating system installation. No additional steps are required from you during installation. During the installation, the computer screen will go out several times for a short time, and to complete some stages of the installation, the computer will reboot itself.

Depending on the version of Windows, at one of the steps, you may need to select or enter basic personalization settings, the computer's network mode, as well as account settings, or create a new one.

Once the desktop has loaded, a clean installation of Windows is complete.

Note. Before proceeding with a clean installation of Windows, be sure in advance about the presence of drivers for all installed devices and the safety of your files. Download and save the drivers on a separate storage medium, and for important data create backup.

If you needed a bootable (although optional) USB flash drive to reset your Windows 7, 8 or Windows 10 password, in this tutorial you will find 2 ways to make such a drive and information on how to use it (as well as some limitations inherent in each of them) ... Separate tutorial: (using a simple bootable OS stick).

I also note that I have described the third option - an installation flash drive or a disk with the Windows distribution kit can also be used to reset the password on an already installed system, which I wrote about in the article (should be suitable for everyone latest versions OS starting with Windows 7).

I first successfully used the Online NT Password & Registry Editor utility about 10 years ago, and since then it has not lost its relevance, not forgetting to regularly update.

This free program can be placed on a bootable USB flash drive or disk and used to reset the local account password (and not only) Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and Windows 10 (as well as previous versions of OS from Microsoft). If you have one of the latest versions and at the same time you are using not a local, but an online Microsoft account to log in, using the Online NT Password & Registry Editor you can still get access to your computer by a workaround (I will also show you).

Warning: Resetting your password on systems that use EFS file encryption will render these files unreadable.

And now a guide on how to create a bootable USB flash drive for password reset and instructions on how to use it.

Note: if for some reason this method did not work, then you can download the ISO image of this utility and (using the SysLinux bootloader).

So, the USB drive is ready, connect it to the computer where you need to reset the password or get access to the system in another way (if using a Microsoft account), install and proceed with the action.

After loading, on the first screen you will be prompted to select options (in most cases, you can just press Enter without selecting anything. If in this case problems arise, then use one of the options by entering the specified parameters, for example, bootirqpoll (after that - pressing Enter) if errors related to IRQ occur.

The second screen will show a list of partitions in which installed Windows were found. You need to indicate the number of this section (there are other options, the details of which I will not go into here, the one who uses them knows why without me. And ordinary users will not need them).

After the program makes sure that the necessary registry files are available in the selected Windows and the ability to write operations to the hard drive, you will be offered several options, of which we are interested Password reset (password reset), which we select by entering 1 (one).

The fun begins on the next screen. You will see a table of users, whether they are administrators, and whether these accounts are locked out or involved. On the left side of the list are the RID numbers of each user. We select the desired one by entering the appropriate number and pressing Enter.

The next step allows us to choose several actions when entering the corresponding number:

  1. Reset the password of the selected user
  2. Unblock and enable the user (This is the opportunity that allowsWindows 8 and 10 with accountMicrosoft to get access to the computer - just in the previous step, select the hidden Administrator account and enable it using this item).
  3. Make the selected user an administrator.

If you do not select anything, then pressing Enter will return you to the user selection. So, to reset Windows password, select 1 and press Enter.

You will see information that the password has been reset and again the same menu that you saw in the previous step. To exit, press Enter, the next choice - q, and finally, to save the changes made, enter y on request.

This completes the Windows password reset using the Online NT Password & Registry Editor bootable USB flash drive, you can remove it from the computer and press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart (and put the boot from the hard disk into BIOS).

Unfortunately, without registering on the official Microsoft website and creating an account with a username and password, installing Windows 10 is impossible. Unsurprisingly, in the end, many users start to wonder: "How do I reset Windows 10 password?" With all this, this procedure can apply to both the main Microsoft account and local "accounts". Let's see how to do it in the simplest way.

Problems with passwords and accounts

Let's start with the biggest problem. Firstly, a person is not a machine; sometimes he tends to forget certain things. If, for example, the password set during the installation of the system, the person simply did not write down, lost or forgot, logging into Windows at startup will simply become impossible.

Secondly, during the registration process on the same official Microsoft website, primitive combinations like 123456789 are not accepted to install the system. Registration is structured in such a way that you need to enter a certain combination, from a security point of view, difficult to hack or select. Alas, this often leads to the most unpredictable consequences.

Thirdly, such passwords may turn out to be too complex or long, which naturally makes it difficult to enter them at every start. And that is why many users want to abandon such a procedure. How to reset password on laptop (Windows 10 on board), desktop computer or a mobile gadget? There are several basic methods for this. True, an uninitiated person, to put it mildly, will have to puzzle a little, because everything is not so simple.

How to reset Windows 10 account password online

Let's start with the simplest. How do I reset a forgotten Windows 10 password that was once applied to a Microsoft account? Naturally, you should refer to the official resource of the corporation. No, of course, you can delete all the "accounts" on the computer, but the record itself with its password will not go anywhere.

To perform this operation, you need to go to the official resource accounts.live.com, where you need to select the section for changing the password. As a reason, you can indicate its loss (in the paragraphs there is a line "I do not remember my password"). After that, you will need to enter the email address or phone number to which the account is linked. Upon receipt of the appropriate notification, all that remains is to follow the desired link and change the old password to the new one on the lock screen (if not abandon it at all).

Using Administrative Tools

In some cases, when solving the problem of how to reset the password on Windows 10, you can use the administration tools. But only the system will have to be booted using a flash drive or disk like a LiveCD or the installation disk of the "dozen" itself.

After a window with a suggestion for choosing a language appears, you should use the Shift + F10 combination to enter the command line. Initially, we assume that the user knows the letter of the system drive. Next, you need to enter two commands as shown below.

The download will be performed from the system partition (if this did not happen, you need to set the priority to bIOS settings). Then, in the password entry window, we use the accessibility section, where we write the "net user New password" command without quotes (to view all users, use the net users command).

After that, you can log in with the new password. If you are using a non-Tens installation disk, you should first make a copy of the cmd.exe file, place it in the System32 partition of the system disk, and then rename it to utilman.exe.

and command line

Now let's see how to reset Windows 10 password in a different, equally effective way. Again, first boot from the installation request and use the Shift + F10 combination.

After that, we do the above operations, but after the authorization window appears, we use special features, and in the line we enter net user Administrator / active: yes, after which we reboot the system. Now we have activated the superuser profile (User). We click on it, and then we set the phrase "Computer Management" in the search. Now we use the local users section, where we select our account... Right-click to bring up a menu with a password setting line, after which we save the changes made, despite any system warnings.

How to reset password 10) or other mobile device

In principle, almost all actions come down to using the same command line, but initially the device must be started from a bootable SD card.

But the easiest way is to use the built-in factory reset tools.

Is it worth doing this kind of thing

Naturally, the very question of how to reset the password on Windows 10 has a downside. How reasonable is such a procedure? Of course, if this is a home terminal and no one else works on it except the owner, there are no questions. If this is a computer or laptop that is part of local network with several authorized users, it is worth thinking a hundred times before taking such steps. After all, sometimes you don't want someone to change, say, local settings or used confidential information without your knowledge. In general, the decision is up to the user himself.

True, in almost all cases, their own windows toolsexcept for deleting the account, you will not be able to change the password. Here, as noted above, you need to use an external bootable media (flash drive, disk or removable memory card). In the absence of those, nothing will work. Moreover, even re-installation the system does not always work. After all, with the activated "accounting" Microsoft will still refer to it. It goes without saying that it can be deactivated, but the question of access via local credentials will immediately arise. However, it will not be difficult to remove them (especially those that the system sets itself by default).

As for the removal of "accounts" that are no longer needed for local computer, then any user who has administrative access rights can perform such operations. At the same time, it may sometimes be advisable to even delete the registration of the so-called super-administrator, so that you do not constantly have to run some processes on his behalf, which undoubtedly annoys many users. However, even here you need to be extremely careful, because if there is an active Microsoft account, the system will turn to it even after such a procedure. And where is the guarantee that the user will remember her login password? In general, what to say? Be vigilant and do not do anything stupid, because then the system will definitely have to be reinstalled, and no methods of influence in terms of recovery (rollback to the previous state) will help.

But with mobile devices, everything is much simpler, because it is unlikely that several registered users will work on one tablet or smartphone.

Due to numerous requests from readers, I decided to write a detailed and simple instruction, how to reset the password for a user account in any version of Windows: 10, 8.1, 8, 7, XP.
So, you turned on the computer, and the system asks for a password to enter. You enter the user's password, but it does not match: an error "incorrect password" occurs. What to do if none of the password matches, but you need to log in to the system? There is a solution - the password can be reset using a special program written on a bootable USB flash drive. Now I'll tell you how to create such a USB flash drive.

You will need to briefly use any others computer. To do this, you can contact a relative, friend, neighbor, maybe have a computer at work - I think this is not a problem now.

So, we sit down at another computer or laptop. We insert any USB flash drive into it:

Downloading free program to reset Windows passwords -. You can download it from the official website (or from my Yandex.Disk):

Run the downloaded file lsrmphdsetup.exe: Install the program as usual: i.e. we agree with everything and in all windows we press the button “ Next”. In the last installation window, press the button “ Finish”- the program will start automatically and a shortcut will be created on the desktop:

In the start window, press the button Burn Bootable CD / USB Disk Now! (“Burn bootable CD / USB disk right now"):

In the next window select Windows version, which is installed on the computer where we will then reset the password. Not in the list Windows 10, but it's not scary: if you have “ten”, then choose here Windows 8.1 with your bit depth.

By the way, on one of the forums I saw a message that you can create a bootable USB flash drive with Windows 8.1 64-bit, and it is suitable for resetting the password on any version of Windows (I checked on Windows 10 64-bit and on Windows 7 64-bit - so and there is):

After you have chosen the required version of Windows - press the button “ Next”:

In the next window, put a marker on the item USB Flash and select the letter of our flash drive (it is already inserted into the computer). In my case, the letter of the flash drive: F.
Then we press the button “ Start”:

The program will download the necessary components from the Microsoft website for some time:

After that the program will ask: “ Format USB drive now?"All files, if they are on the flash drive, will be deleted. We press the button “ Yes”:

Now we are waiting for the bootable USB flash drive to be created:

At the end of the process - press the button “ Finish”:

Everything! A bootable USB flash drive with a password reset program is ready. We take it out and carry it to our computer.

We insert the bootable USB flash drive into your computer. And now comes the most important, and at the same time, the most difficult moment for those who will do it for the first time. We need configure the computer boot from our flash drive .

Those who know how to boot a computer from a USB flash drive - you can immediately skip to the end of this article. For those who do not know how to boot from a USB flash drive, I will try to explain as clearly as possible:

============================================================================================

In order to "force" the computer to boot not as usual (that is, from the hard disk), but from the device we need (in our case, from a flash drive), it is necessary to enable a certain setting in Bios computer.

To get into this very Bios, we must immediately after turning on the computer press a certain key on the keyboard (and press not once, but many, many times, until we see the BIOS on the screen).

On different computers and laptops, this key is different:

  • The most commonly used key is Delete (or Del ).
  • Also often Bios can be called with the key F2 (and on some laptops Fn + F2 ).
  • Less commonly used keys Esc, F1, F6 other.

In general, immediately after you pressed the Power button on your computer or laptop, then do not wait until Windows starts loading, but immediately start pressing the key many times Delete on keyboard. After a few seconds (5-10), the screen should show Bios.

If nothing of the kind has appeared, but your Windows starts loading as usual, then we do not expect anything else: we restart our computer again (you can directly press the Reset button) and try to press another key many times - F2.

If you don't get into BIOS again, we restart the computer again and try to press the next key - Esc... Then F6 etc. But I hope you don't have to experiment that long: in the vast majority of cases, either the Delete key or F2 is triggered.

By the way, a hint about which key to load Bios usually flashes at the bottom of the screen immediately after turning on the computer. But for some reason, no one looks at it, or does not have time to consider it.

On different computers Bios different, and it looks different for everyone.

On my computer, for example, it is like this:

On another computer, it will be like this:

On the third computer this is:
That is, I am saying this to the fact that it is almost impossible to write a separate instruction for each BIOS.

The main thing that anyone who needs to configure boot from a USB flash drive should know is: in BIOS (no matter how it looks for you), you need to find a section where the word is present Boot (from English "Download"). By going with the arrows on the keyboard to this section - put it in the first place in the list of boot devices uSB flash drive.

In BIOS, a flash drive can be displayed with its own name (for example, Transcend), or as USB-HDD; there are other options. One thing is important: it must be selected as the first device from which the computer will boot.

Usually, a USB flash drive is "raised" to the first place using the arrows on the keyboard, or with the keys +/- or F5 / F6.

Having set the desired setting in Bios, we must leave it, not forgetting to save the changes made. To do this, go to the section Exit (it is usually the last one) - and there select the item “ Save and Exit”(“ Save and Exit ”). And then confirm once again that we are exiting by clicking “ Yes”.

That's all: if you did everything correctly, the computer will reboot and boot from the USB flash drive (press the Delete key again, or F2, or something else - no need!).

Many do not even want to deal with creating a bootable USB flash drive with any software, tk. they are afraid that they will still not be able to configure the computer to boot from it. I tried to describe this whole process of booting from a USB flash drive in as much detail as possible. If you have mastered this text, I hope it became at least a little clearer and now you just have to practice.

===============================================================================================================

So, I created a bootable USB flash drive with a password reset program on another computer. I insert this flash drive into my computer and turn it on.

Immediately press the key many, many times Delete on keyboard. In a few seconds I get into Bios.

I use the arrows on the keyboard to go to the section Boot (although in my BIOS you can work with a mouse - in old versions of BIOS it will not work like that).

Here, my first device is now hDD (ACHI PO: WDC WD50…):
I select this line using the arrow on the keyboard and press the key Enter... A list of devices from which you can boot opens. In my case, this is a hard drive and my flash drive (it is listed here two times). Raising to the first place in the list - uSB flash drive (if there is a choice: USB or UEFI, then choose UEFI). We do this using the arrows on the keyboard, or with the keys +/- or F5 / F6:

Now the flash drive is in the first place in the list of boot devices:

Now we exit from here, saving the changes. To do this, move the arrow on the keyboard to the last section Exit... Select the line Save Changes and Exit - press the key Enter:

Then choose Yes:

After a while, a menu opens, in which the key Enter we choose an item Lazesoft Live CD:

We are waiting while the download is in progress:

In the next window, check that the item is selected Reset Windows Password ("Reset Windows password") and press the button Next:

A window will pop up with a message about the non-commercial use of the program - click Yes:

Click again Next:

In the next window highlight the username, whose password will be reset and click Next:

Click on the button RESET / UNLOCK:

The password has been successfully reset - click OK... Then Finish:

We go to “ Start”And click Reboot Computer ("To restart a computer"):

Push OK:

After the computer restarts, we can login to windows without password!

Often the situation can be such that the password for the operating system will be forgotten. This is not surprising - you can quickly write down the authorization data, work for a PC for several months, safely lose a piece of paper with the code and at one point realize that you need it. Someone will ask - but if a password is not required when logging in, why then enter it? It's simple - even on those machines that have disabled authorization, you may need to enter a password, for example, after manually blocking Win + L or after the next update. The thought immediately arises: how to remove the password when entering Windows 10?

Today we are going to talk about this. Moreover, the situation will be considered when you work from an account associated with Microsoft, and then when a local account is used. The password reset process is similar to previous versions of Windows, but there are some differences. We will assume that for some reason you do not know your password, for example, you have simply forgotten it.

First of all, try to enter your password in the familiar and English layout. This approach can help if you entered data and forgot to switch it. It is also worth trying to log in with Caps Lock enabled. The fact is that for the operating system there is a difference between the words Alyosha and Alyosha. If for some reason you do not understand how to reset the password on Windows 10 or you have other difficulties, at the end of this article there is a video that duplicates what was written.

If your account was synchronized with Microsoft, and the computer is connected to the network, there will be no difficulties with password recovery at all. You can do this right on the Microsoft website. Let's take a closer look at the question: adhere to all stages of our step by step instructions... Let's get started:

  1. Visit the password recovery page on the Microsoft official website. To do this, follow the link. We will be asked to indicate the reason why we can not enter - choose any. We indicate "I forgot my password." Click "Next".

  1. At the next stage, we indicate email from your account, enter the confirmation number and click on "Next".

  1. A letter with a confirmation code will be sent to the e-mail specified at the previous stage - copy it.

  1. Enter the confirmation code into the window shown in the screenshot, and again press the button with the text "Next".

  1. Enter a new password, confirm it and click on the "Next" button.

That's all. Our password has been changed and we can use it when logging into the operating system. Naturally, in order for it to be updated on your computer, you need to have a working network connection.

Try to always link your account to your Microsoft account. Firstly, it will not allow you to forget the authorization data or restore them without problems. Secondly, all your data will be synchronized, and the user's folder will be completely saved in cloud OneDrivewhich Microsoft gives free to all its users.

How to reset a local account password

In order to use this option, you need to have a USB flash drive or disk for installing Windows 10. We discussed how to create it in. Let's move on to the instructions, each step of which will be shown in the screenshot for clarity.

  1. First you need to boot from our media. For this you need to Computer BIOS install USB or DVD media as the first bootable device. In order to enter BIOS, you need to press the Del or F2 button at the time of starting the computer. You can also call the boot menu - for this, each computer or laptop has its own key (see the documentation). When the PC is launched from a flash drive or disk, we need to get to the command line. To do this, click on the "System Restore" item.

  1. Next, go to the "Troubleshooting" section by clicking on the tile indicated in the screenshot.

  1. Select the command line tool.

You can call the command line by pressing the combination shift keys + F10 on the language selection screen. However, this option does not always work.

  1. In the command line, type diskpart and press the Enter button.

  1. Now we need to get a list of the partitions mounted on the computer. To do this, enter list volume and press Enter.

  1. A list of sections has appeared. We need to remember the one on which Windows was installed. You can understand this by the size of the disk. In this case, our partition has a volume of 31 GB - this is Volume 2 with the letter D. Let's go further. Exit diskpart by entering the exit command.

  1. We continue to reset the Windows password, write a phrase like: move c: \\ windows \\ system32 \\ utilman.exe and press Enter.

  1. The next line to enter: copy c: \\ windows \\ system32 \\ cmd.exe c: \\ windows \\ system32 \\ utilman.exe and Enter again.

  1. If you followed our steps and entered your disc title correctly, then everything went well. All that remains is to enter the wpeutil reboot command and press Enter again. Next, our PC will reboot, and you will see the beginning of the diagnosis.

  1. This will be followed by an automatic recovery process - in our case, it will simply reset the password.

Note: the whole procedure described above boiled down to the fact that the cmd.exe file was copied to the System32 directory and was renamed utilman.exe. This will enable you to activate the command prompt without logging into Windows.

  1. When the computer starts, on the password entry screen, click on the "Accessibility" button - we circled it in a red circle in the screenshot.

  1. The whole trick lies in the fact that at the last stage we replaced the standard Windows 10 tool with the command line and now the Ten launches it, not realizing that this is not the same program. Go ahead. Enter the following statement in CMD.exe: net user your account name new_password and press Enter.

  1. If your login consists of two or more words, it must be entered in quotes. And if you don't know the login, just enter net users and Windows 10 will show you all the users of the system.

Done. Now you can log in with a new password without rebooting the system. Do not forget to return the accessibility list back after windows explorer 10 running as administrator.

Another option how to remove password from Windows 10 computer

To use this method, you need to have Windows 10 Professional installed on your PC. The described option works with the already running command line... How to call it through the accessibility button - we said above. The algorithm of actions will be as follows:

  1. Launch the command line and enter the following into it: net user Administrator / active: yes (if your Windows is an English release, or it was one, but you Russified it, then instead of “Administrator” enter Administrator). Finally, press Enter.

  1. Now you need to restart the PC, after which you will have a choice of the Administrator user, who can log in to the system without entering a password.

  1. Just click on the name "Administrator" and enter the system.

Sometimes a second user appears even before Windows 10 reboots. Therefore, before proceeding with the reboot, take a look at the lower left corner - perhaps an administrator has already been added there.

  1. But we need a password change, so let's move on. Once you are logged in (the first time it may take time), right-click on the "Start" button and select the "Computer Management" menu.

  1. We follow the path indicated in the screenshot. In the right part of the window, click on the name of the user who forgot the password, and select from context menu item marked in the screenshot with number 2.

  1. Windows will notify us that changing the password is dangerous (we advise you to read the text in full), but we press "Continue".

  1. It's time to change your password. Enter the code itself, its confirmation and click "OK".

Done. The password has been changed and now you can enter the system with it.

This option works exclusively with local accounts. If you need to recover the password from your Microsoft account, use the first method or, after logging in, create another user.

After you have made the necessary changes, put everything back. Enter a command prompt and type: net user Administrator / active: no. This will disable admin login without entering a password. Leaving the state of affairs in this state is very dangerous.

Done. Now your Windows is what it was, and you can safely log in.

New way to sign in

  1. Boot from the installation media and when the language selection window appears, press Shift and F10 at the same time. (On some laptops, add the Fn button to this combination).

  1. The command line will open - which, in fact, we needed and needed. Enter regedit and press Enter. This will launch the Registry Editor. Go to the registry key indicated in the screenshot.

  1. Open the "File" menu and select the "Load bush" item in it.

  1. Go to C: \\ Windows \\ System32 \\ config and select SYSTEM.

Note! The disk on your system may be different. For example, in our case it is not C, but D.

  1. Windows will ask for the name of the future parameter. This does not matter - write any word in small Latin letters.

  1. Click on the newly created section of the system registry and select the Setup folder inside it. In the right part of the window, you need to set the parameters for the following keys:
  1. Assign the cmd.exe parameter to the CmdLine key;

  1. We assign parameter 2 to the SetupType key.

  1. We finish with the registry editor. We need to unload the bush. To do this, select the key we have created on the left side of the program.

  1. Unload the bush into place through the File menu.

  1. We confirm the action by clicking on the "Yes" button.

After these manipulations, you need to close regedit and the black command line window. Reboot and when the system starts you will see a command prompt that opens.

Now the user's password can be reset by the operator: net user user_password - in the same way as described above. When the changes are made, type exit at the command line and press Enter. If you close the window with a cross, all the changes you made may disappear.

In the future, you will not need to return the system to its original position. Any changes you made while using the command line will automatically be restored to their default values.

If none of the described options helped you or after a series of experiments the system stopped starting at all, use the mode.

Password reset software

In the vastness of the network, you can find utilities that are supposedly capable of removing the password from a Windows computer. We do not recommend using such software. The fact is that, firstly, it needs to be written to a bootable USB flash drive (and these are additional difficulties), and secondly, utilities work most often by enumerating options and, if the password is of medium complexity, you will not be able to find the correct combination. But most importantly - why is it needed? After all, using our instructions, you will restore in 5-10 minutes forgotten code... Moreover, several options are presented, which will be enough for any situation.

On this we will end. Now you know how to remove Windows 10 password in several ways. We hope our article helped you, but if you have any difficulties, describe them in the comments, and we, or other users, will help resolve the situation.
