The cheapest roaming in Poland. Additional internet packages

Being disconnected in another country is not the best prospect for a traveler. Therefore, many tourists are considering buying a local SIM card upon arrival. Today we will consider the proposals of local Polish operators, and also tell you what has changed for the traveler after the cancellation of roaming in the EU.

It should be noted that the tariffs of local cellular companies in Poland are acceptable, many operators offer free calls within the network, unlimited SMS and good speed Internet. But there are also some nuances (we will talk about them later).

Rates for communication in Poland - Orange, Vodafone

If there is no time to study local offers from mobile companies, it is better to buy a card while still in Russia (such cards usually work not only in Poland, but also in other EU countries) from Orange or Vodafone.

* Please note that the cost of services of mobile operators in Poland may vary and differ from the cost indicated in the article.

Editorial staff along the way continues to explore the question of profitable mobile communications while traveling. We have already told you about virtual operators cellular communication, which allow great savings in some European countries and not only. This time we will talk about the roaming offers of Ukrainian operators, because since the fall, a lot has changed in our telecom market for the better for tourists. Now, when traveling abroad with a Ukrainian SIM-card, you can save a lot on communications and even have available mobile Internet in roaming while in Europe or Turkey, or just spend a little less than it was before.

Roaming Vodafone

The release of the Vodafone brand, or Vodafone in Cyrillic (yes, that’s right, the brand, nothing has changed at the level of the operator’s owners) was marked by two cool things for Ukrainian mobile users: simple and understandable tariffs within the network without hidden fees and footnotes in small text, but with a huge package of Internet traffic, and extremely favorable roaming rates in some countries where Vodafone operates.

Vodafone has several tariff zones. In Europe, these are “Roaming at home” and “Roaming at home in Poland”. Outside - all the rest, the third zone in fact. To use the services "like at home", you need to connect to the correct operators (the list is on the website near the respective country). If you do not know how to do this, contact the operator's contact center ( 111 from Vodafone number).

Since the brand's launch on the market, the roaming conditions of the “Roaming at Home” service have deteriorated several times, and the most important unpleasant changes have affected the volume of mobile traffic. Now prepaid subscribers can get from 100 to 600 MB for a week at a price of 120 to 360 hryvnias (a one-time 50% discount is valid until June 11, 2017, but it does not fundamentally change the picture). At the same time, Vodafone provides many free messages and minutes for calls. This policy is due to the fact that voice and message roaming has become an inexpensive service for operators on their get-togethers, but data transfer is still expensive. The operator wants to earn more by “giving more to subscribers,” that is, to increase the average bill. In fact, as Vodafone claims, it is the best value proposition on the market. The only question is how large the audience is interested in the possibility of voice communication. Most likely, these are those who go on a business trip or, due to the specifics of work or personal life, must always stay in touch.

Roaming rates Vodafone

This is what the tariffs look like.

If you are reading this article after July 11, then the prices are correct - before the discount

But if you are an active smartphone user who does not plan to overpay for unnecessary "voice" and messages, the editors along the way advises not to activate the “Roaming at Home” service, but just use the mobile Internet. For 35 hryvnia per day in the countries where the service is valid, you will receive the same 100 MB. Personal experience shows that, in principle, this volume of traffic is just enough for a day if you communicate in instant messengers, use navigation and sometimes surf the Internet, and for "heavy" tasks run under Wi-Fi.

There is only one tariff for contract subscribers, and it is valid for a month.

At first glance, special tariffs for Poland look more profitable, although the subscriber receives much less services for less money. By the way, the lower cost of roaming in Poland became possible due to the fact that there are many Ukrainians in this country and communication in it is, in principle, cheaper than in Western Europe.

Conditions for counter subscribers
Conditions for prepaid subscribers

Countries covered by the "Roaming at Home" service (there is a list on the operator's website). No, these are not all countries where Vodafone operates, but obviously the most popular among Ukrainians.

If you are traveling to a country where the “Roaming at home” tariff does not apply, then the conditions will be completely onerous. The minimum everything (a minute of conversation within the country or with Ukrainian operators, a megabyte of Internet) will cost 30 hryvnia. By the way, in the same table there is the cost of services without Roaming at Home.

When is it profitable to use

When you need to make a lot of calls while roaming.

Vodafone tariff is made according to the principle "on you, my God, what does not suit me". Voice communication (the cheapest in tariffs) is a thing of the past in the volumes in which the operator offers it. But the now popular mobile Internet is expensive. That is, “Roaming like at home” should be activated if you are traveling for a few days and plan to call exactly to the Ukrainian Vodafone and MTS. If you are a Vodafone subscriber, in other situations, connecting to the service is not beneficial for you. If you need traffic, it is better to consider the tariffs of local operators, other Ukrainian operators, or use data without paying for a service package.

Room: +380 500 400 111 - free from mobile Vodafone in roaming, by the way, it is revolutionary for our operators.

Roaming MTS Ukraine

Despite the rebranding, MTS Ukraine retained its tariffs both in the country and abroad. For roaming, they are unprofitable compared to all other offers (including basic ones), and in any case, we advise you to either activate roaming from another operator or buy a local SIM card.

Roaming lifecell (lifecell)

Lifecell, aka lifecell, aka life :) in the recent past is a "daughter" of the largest Turkish operator Turkcell. The company rebranded once after MTS Ukraine / Vodafone in order to part with its "youth" image, the ghost of an unpopular oligarch among the owners and to remind of its "civilized" Turkish origin. Together with the new name, lifecell announced some pleasant new roaming conditions. And unpleasant at the same time.

Roaming tariffs for lifecell

Vodafone's entry to the Ukrainian market with roaming tariffs forced all operators to reconsider tariffication and come to simpler and more understandable conditions. Lifecell has several tariff zones (see the operator's website for the exact conditions for your country), but the key difference from Vodafone is the lack of packages that include voice, messages and data transmission. If you still need to call and you are going to Europe, then such an offer is not profitable for you. If your choice is data, then Europe in the lifecell network will cost a little cheaper than Vodafone (although not in all countries). In particular, in France, Greece, Hungary and others - 5 UAH less for every 100 MB.

Lifecell offers 100 MB in roaming in Turkey mobile internet free, but there is a catch - they can only be obtained by paying for messages and voice. If 100 MB is not enough, then for the next megabyte you will need to pay extra 50 kopecks. All conditions.

Lifecell also offers its own messenger BiP, in which Internet traffic in roaming is not charged (but only in 22 countries). There is only one caveat - any other traffic generated by your smartphone is charged if it is connected to the Internet. You can turn off all other Internet-dependent applications, map updates and other services, remove instant messengers and social networks, but in the end, something will still run away into the network. Detailed information is available.

For those who plan to call a little, and stay abroad for more than a week, the tariff is perfect. For those who need a lot of Internet it will be more profitable to buy a local card or Vodafone, if the country is included in the “Roaming like at home” service coverage area.

When is it profitable to use

If you are flying to Turkey with internet and mobile plans. If you plan to use data transmission and only, and go to those countries where 100 MB cost 30 UAH in the operator's network, and these are the majority of European countries and some of our neighbors.

Roaming Kyivstar

Kyivstar is currently considered the most expensive operator in Ukraine. And if the new tariffs for communication within the country allow us to call it such a stretch (although they are aimed at increasing income per subscriber, and not at the fact that the service unit within the tariff allows the operator to earn more), then in roaming tariffs Kyivstar is not bad ...

Roaming tariffs Kyivstar

For most popular and not very distant destinations (including the most popular among our subscribers in Russia, operator figures are a more objective calculation parameter than popular indignation) 100 MB of Internet costs 35 hryvnia. Calls - 2 hryvnia. Even in exotic China (which, by the way, until recently was not available for “voice” in roaming), a minute of voice communication will cost 4 hryvnia. Bulgaria, Latvia will cost significantly less than in Vodafone roaming. Kyivstar has roaming agreements with more than 60 countries of the world. Only we find it difficult to say whether it is a lot or a little. Advertising brochure with Kyivstar roaming tariffs looks like this.

And you can check the cost of the Internet, calls and messages specifically in the country that interests you. In general, the operator's website has a convenient visualization of tariff plans for roaming.

Traveling abroad is often associated with the search for an inexpensive and convenient cellular connection. That is why mobile operators in Poland offer several service options for foreign customers. The choice of a specific tariff in 2019 depends on your needs and financial capabilities.

Polish mobile operators

On the territory of the Republic of Poland, two types of operators offer their services: ordinary and virtual (MNVO - Mobile virtual network operator). Regular operators have their own infrastructure, virtual ones lease networks of conventional ones, offering their services at lower prices, as a rule, using prepaid cards.

Their prices are lower due to the wholesale purchase of traffic, as well as savings on the maintenance of offices and employees, the absence of the need for equipment maintenance. We work with clients via the Internet or mobile applications.

The usual operators that offer cellular communications through their own infrastructure in Poland include four companies:

  • T-Mobile is a German company that also provides communication services in the UK, Germany, Austria and even the USA;
  • Play is a Polish company sponsored by Chinese entrepreneurs;
  • Orange is a French international operator;
  • Plus is a Polish mobile operator.

Among virtual operators, the highest quality mobile connection is proposed by the following:

  • Heyah - Works on T-Mobile networks;
  • Plush, Lycamobile - on Plus networks;
  • Virgin Mobile, Mobile Vikings and Red Bull Mobile - powered by Play networks;
  • Nju Mobile - on Orange networks.

Virtual operators are of two types: the first belong to the network owners themselves and offer the most affordable tariffs, the second are independent. The latter include, for example, Virgin Mobile, Mobile Vikings, Lycamobile and others. Their advantage is that they have an agreement not with one network owner, but with several at once. This gives them the ability to switch between networks when there is no signal from one of them.

Many are attracted by the tariffs of the Play or Plus operators, while others are more interested in the wide coverage of T-Mobile.
