PC users have become so accustomed to Windows 7 that it has become like a trusted old friend to them. Everyone knows about its key advantages and disadvantages, what to expect in one case or another, and what to hope for. However, like any other system, this one has properties that are very annoying to many.

It is about the functions of Windows 7 that are more annoying than useful, we will talk about in this article. Moreover, we will consider the most effective options for getting rid of them as quickly and simply as possible, spending a minimum of effort and personal time.

Delete confirmation

You probably noticed that when deleting any files, the system automatically asks if you really want to delete. It feels like being addressed to young children. If you do not like to constantly convince the system that your intentions are the most serious, you can disable this feature in the basket settings.

To do this, click on the "Recycle Bin" shortcut with the right button and select "Properties" from the menu that appears. Opposite the item "Request permission to delete files", you need to uncheck the box, after which the function will be disabled.

Caps lock

You use the Caps Lock button for its intended purpose, except for capturing messages in messages, which always annoys interlocutors and forum visitors. Moreover, sometimes, especially when entering the password, the key is pressed for some reason, and the password is entered incorrectly. Of course, many services today warn about the activated cap, but this does not make it easier for users.

Most often, this key is pressed absolutely by accident and changes the case of letters, as a result of which you have to redo the text again. That is, in principle, it is not needed, and it can be turned off. To do this, you need to create a text file on the desktop of your computer and write in it such text:

Download the finished file.

After that, you need to save the file with the change of extension: change ".txt" to ".reg.", You can put any name. Next, open the file and confirm the actions in the pop-up windows. In this case, you do not need to pay attention to system warnings, since the file is completely safe and will not harm your computer.

Without a doubt, any changes to the registry, and we are doing just them now, are dangerous and fraught with system failure, so everything must be done very carefully and carefully.

Now you need to restart your PC, after which Caps Lock will be disabled and will no longer bother you. If necessary, its functioning can be returned, for this we create another file, change the extension and we enter the following there:

Download the finished file.

We save the file and run it again, do everything the same way, restart the computer, after which the key functionality will be restored.

By the way, there is one with which you can not only disable unnecessary keys, but assign them other functions, for example, automatically open the browser and search in it.

Application window selection

In Windows 7, when you select one application from several windows, for example, if several copies of Explorer are open, then the first click displays a preview of the windows, and only after the second click the window we need is activated.

This process can be significantly accelerated so that when you click on the icon in the taskbar, the window that was last active opens. In this case, each subsequent click will cycle through the windows in the order in which they are used. To make changes, you will also need to make edits to the system registry.

To do this, you need to open "Start" and enter the word "regedit" in the search bar, after which the registry editor will be launched. We open the key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \\ Software \\ Microsoft \\ Windows \\ CurrentVersion \\ Explorer \\ Advanced

We click in the right pane with the right mouse button and create a DWORD parameter, name it LastActiveClick. Double-click on it and change the value to 1. Next, restart the computer, after which the changes will take effect.

Sound scheme

The Windows 7 developers tried to make the signals that accompany the system operation as pleasant as possible. But all people have completely different tastes, and if you don't like the existing sound scheme or are simply tired of it, you can change it to another or turn it off altogether.

To do this, click on the speaker icon and click on the "Sounds" item. A new window will appear in front of you, where you need to set the "Mute" parameter to mute the sound or select another sound scheme that is pleasing to you and your hearing.

Support Center alerts

A real hell of a Microsoft development is the white flag of the Alert Center. He regularly scares users of the operating system with threatening messages.

If he bothers you and interferes with his presence, then you need to go to the "Control Panel", then to "All elements of the control panel \\ Support Center \\ Settings" and set which notifications you would like to receive and which would not.

Sticky keys

A function such as Sticky Keys is activated by pressing "Shift" 5 times and is designed specifically for users with disabilities. But the rest simply do not need it and, moreover, it is often very annoying, for example, in those cases when a cat accidentally lies on the keyboard or a child presses one or another button. Sticky keys especially interfere with gamers and, often, appears at the most inopportune moment for this.

If you want to remove this function, then you need to open the "Ease of Access Center" in the window that appears and uncheck the box for enabling Sticky Keys. You can also make it a little trickier, and assign a different function to a five-time press. Let's say a very convenient thing is calling the command line.

Warning when opening the installation file

Another thing that was added in Windows 7 is a constantly appearing window with a warning from the security system when trying to open any file downloaded from the Internet. This is actually a very useful feature, especially for inexperienced users, to reduce the risks of malware and viruses on your computer.

But for more experienced users, this warning rather interferes, popping up every time, than benefits. Disabling it is easy enough.

This way we get rid of the annoying window.

Extra program items in the main menu

A large number of programs during installation on a computer appear not only on the desktop, but also in Start, on the Quick Launch bar and even in the context menu. For those who do not know, this is a list of functions and commands that are displayed on the screen when you right-click on any file.

Quite often, the context menu is large and has many unnecessary items, especially for those who constantly install and remove something from their PC. Moreover, some items are not cleaned up at all after deletion from the computer, and remain in this very menu.

You can clean it using the system registry or using the CCleaner program. This utility is universal and offers many tools to fully maintain your device. The program is absolutely free and can be downloaded from the official website of the developers.

To correct the context menu, you need to find the "Service / Startup" section and go to the corresponding tab "Context menu". Next, we find the items we do not need and disable them once and for all. Thus, the context menu can be cleaned quickly and without any problems.

Sometimes mobile bills are higher due to services that we don't need at all. 42.TUT.BY has compiled a list of the most common tricks of Belarusian mobile operators and ways to avoid them.

We visited three salons of mobile operators in Minsk, connected new SIM-cards, and then studied the “bouquet” of default services. At the same time, we decided to see what tariff plan the consultants would offer to an undecided buyer. For this we asked for "the most common tariff with calls and the Internet."

Note that all services were connected absolutely legally with the consent of the subscriber. The problem is that an absent-minded person can notice an unnecessary paid service only six months after he "eats" a decent amount.

MTS

MTS did not impose a tariff: they showed a table with a SMART line and demanded to choose it yourself. We took the cheapest "SMART light", which offers 250 minutes of calls and 250 MB of traffic for 3.9 rubles a month (in the first months the monthly fee is less, and the bonuses are more).

Service " MTS TV"Switched on on the number itself. It allows you to watch TV channels using your smartphone, it costs 26 kopecks per day (about 7.8 rubles per month). The first three months are free, after which the money will be debited automatically. The specialist in the salon said that there was a service, it was visible in the contract, and after the first connection a cheerful SMS was also received with a reminder about the “bonus from the company”. True, we did not ask to connect television.

When the SIM card was connected for the first time, there was also “ Toning", Which automatically put" Melody of the day". For some reason he chose a song with words "Take everything that I have, just be with me here and now"... Fortunately, he was not going to write off everything - 47 kopecks for Toning and Melody of the Day every month. The first 30 days are free, then for money. True, for some reason in the Internet assistant the cost of both services is indicated as "0 rubles", and the real price and the button to disable it had to be looked for on a separate site.

The contract also included some "advertising mailings". In fact, it turned out to be “ Stay in touch"- a mystical option that regularly slips SMS with advertising of paid services. It's free, but promotional messages are not what we expected from new sim card... It is impossible to find it in the Internet assistant. “For your convenience, the service starts working automatically,” explains the description on the site.

They don't take money for this, but an inattentive person or child may accidentally answer a request and acquire a completely unnecessary service. By default, everyone has ads, they turn it off upon request. It is curious that other operators do not have such a "service".

velcom

In velcom, as the "most ordinary" one, they advised the tariff "About everything at once", which for 4.9 rubles a month gives 250 minutes inside velcom networks, 250 SMS and 250 MB of traffic (the monthly fee is lower for the first months).

Was automatically connected " Voice mail»- it works as an answering machine and sends SMS about missed calls. It itself is free, but there is one
when someone calls you and stumbles upon voice mail, it is charged as an outgoing call to the caller. You don't notice - the operator earns.

Service " Melofon"- melody instead of beeps - fortunately, we were not connected. True, the terms of rendering still indicate: “The service is automatically assigned when concluding an agreement on the provision of telecommunication services at tariff velcom plans» ... The first 30 days it is free, then it costs from 4 kopecks to 1.12 rubles per day.

The operator also has a service " What's new", which the "For your convenience, starts working automatically after inserting a SIM card into the phone"... The free service sends announcements of paid services - games, melodies. Our SIM card escaped this fate, but there are many complaints about this service on the Web.

life :)

In life :) “the most ordinary tariff with the Internet” was understood as “the cheapest with the Internet” and they connected “S”, which for 6.5 rubles a month promises 2 GB of traffic, 100 minutes of calls to other networks and unlimited within the network.

"Load" got the service " 4G Fast and Furious 2 GB"For 2.6 rubles per month, which provides 4G traffic. The first month it is free, then it starts charging payments. The consultant in the salon warned that the service was paid, and wrote right on the contract how to turn it off.

We did not find any "hidden" services in the Internet assistant. True, new life :) subscribers should be careful with their monthly payments. The entire cost of the service package for a month is debited at a time If you do not have enough funds on your account (for example, 5 rubles, not 6.5), you will have a "base rate" - paid calls within the network and very expensive Internet traffic. This will continue until there is enough money or until the account is empty.

Internet subscription - anyone can get caught

All three operators have an active system of "Internet subscriptions" - the ability to connect a paid service through a third-party website on the Internet for 20-30 kopecks per day (about 4-6 rubles per month). You can subscribe to dating, erotic videos, games or movies - we did not dare to check all of them.

The problem is that you can stumble upon links that are “subscription activators” quite by accident. You can accidentally click on the banner or make a mistake in writing the address of a popular service - and paid subscription like "Airportal" or "Portal of jokes" will be added by itself and will begin to write off money.

If you've recently updated your Google Chrome browser, you've probably noticed. The new design is available in Chrome 69 and newer. Some users are delighted with these changes, but others prefer the classic design. If you don't like the new design, you can turn it off and go back to the classic one.

We'll be using the Chrome browser on a Mac, but the method is the same for Windows and Linux PCs.

How to disable new designChrome 69+

1. Open your browser and paste the following link into the address bar:

Chrome: // flags / # top-chrome-md

2. Search for “UI Layout for the browser’s top chrome”.

3. Open the menu next to “UI Layout for the browser’s top chrome” and select the “Normal” option.

4. Restart your Chrome browser to apply the changes.

When Chrome opens, you'll see the old classic design. This is how it will look:

And here's what the new design looks like:

The method will be exactly the same for Windows and Linux PCs. As you can see, everything is very simple. You can return a new design at any time or choose a different one from the menu.

Have you just installed Windows 10? Maybe not even on their own? Welcome to the operating system!

If you've used an express install of Windows 10, you might want to change some of the settings before proceeding. This is for the sake of privacy, speed and convenience. Here are 10 things that are enabled by default and that you can disable in Windows 10.

Installing updates from multiple sources.

One of the new features in Windows 10 is its optimized update delivery system, which allows you to download updates from other Windows 10 computers over the Internet (not just Microsoft servers). The catch, of course, is that your computer is also used as a source of updates for other Windows 10 computers.

This feature is enabled by default, but you can disable it by going to Settings> Update & Security> Advanced Options> Choose how and when to get updates.

Annoying notifications.

For Windows 10, Action Center is a convenient hub for all app notifications, reminders, recent installed programs... But notification overload certainly gets in the way, especially when you add unnecessary notifications (like Windows tips or feedback from the Feedback Hub).

Take control of your notifications by going to Settings> System> Notifications & Actions and turn off items like Show Windows Tips and notifications from specific apps.

Advertising in the Start Menu.

Microsoft is really pushing new apps from the Windows Store - so many that you see apps that you would never have downloaded from the Start menu. The applications offered are mostly ads. Thank you Microsoft!

Turn off these annoying ads by going to Settings> Personalization> Start> Show recommendations sometimes in the Start menu. For more information, check out.

Targeted ads from third-party apps.

Microsoft certainly tracks your browsing preferences and habits on Windows 10. You even have a unique advertising ID (linked to your Microsoft account) that the company uses to show you ads. And Microsoft also shares this ad ID / profile with third-party apps from the Windows Store, unless of course you turn off sharing of this information.

You can turn this off by going to Settings> Privacy> General> Let apps use my ad recipient ID (if you disable this setting, the ID will be reset).

Getting to know you.

Cortana, your responsive personal assistant in Windows 10, gets, well, enough personal information it collects about you (Cortana doesn't work in Russia). Cortana "recognizes you" by gathering information such as speech, typing handwriting, and typing history that you may regard as intimidating.

You can prevent Cortana from meeting you and clear the collected information from your device by going to Settings> Privacy> Speech, Handwriting & Typing and clicking the Stop Learning button.

Applications running in the background.

In the operating room windows system 10, many applications will default to background - this means that even if they are not open for you. These apps can receive information, send notifications, download and install updates, and otherwise eat up your bandwidth and battery. If you are using mobile device and / or metered connection, you can disable this feature.

To do this, go to Settings> Privacy> Background Applications and disable applications individually.

Lock screen.

Windows 10 is a universal operating system designed for all devices - mobile and stationary. For this reason, it has a lock screen and a login screen, which annoy some users who want to quickly log into their device. You can turn off the lock screen and go straight to the login screen, but you'll have to go to the Windows registry. Here's our in-depth guide on how to.

Synchronization of everything and everyone.

Windows 10 is obsessed with syncing. Everything: system settings, themes, passwords, search history - are synchronized by default on all your registered devices. But not all of us want our search history to sync across our phones and computers, so here's how to turn off that sync.

To turn off syncing (including themes and passwords), go to Settings> Accounts> Sync your settings. You can disable all sync settings, or you can selectively disable certain options.

To turn off search history syncing, open Cortana and go to Settings> Device Search History.

The interface is too diverse.

Windows 10 has a compelling interface, but maybe you prefer speed and simplicity over visuals. If so, you can turn off most of the visual effects in Windows 10. Right-click on the Start button and go to System> Advanced System Settings. Under the "Advanced" tab, go to "Performance" and click on the "Options" button, then uncheck any visual effects that you would rather not see.

Automatic updates.

Windows 10 downloads and installs updates automatically, and you can't turn them off. And to be honest, you shouldn't disable them - it's important for a modern operating system to be safe. But if for some reason you want your computer to get rid of the automatic downloading and installation of Windows 10 updates (so that you can manually download and install updates on your own schedule), you can use a workaround -.
