Screen resolution meizu m2 mini. Meizu M2 mini review - the best smartphone available

In a crisis, people strive to save, but do not want to deny themselves the benefits to which they are accustomed. Everyone wants to use a high-quality, stylish smartphone, but not everyone can afford an expensive purchase. The well-known proverb “a cheapskate pays twice” immediately comes to mind, but in the case of Meizu M2 mini it does not work. And that's why.

Equipment our smartphone is modest but tasteful. The box is very small but stylish. It is based on thick cardboard, which in itself speaks of a certain level of quality. A smartphone is neatly stowed inside, and next to it is a power supply, a nice SIM card extractor. The Micro USB cable is already hidden under the device.

There is no headset in the kit, but that would be too much - the device is already very inexpensive, but offers quite a lot.

Design and ergonomics

I would like to tell you as soon as possible that everything is fine in this respect. Despite the fact that there is no smell of metal here, the outer casing is made of high-quality polycarbonate. The coating is bright, glossy and very pleasant to the touch. I think there is a need to use a smartphone in a case, otherwise the case will quickly become covered with all kinds of scratches. Still, plastic is plastic.

In our case, a seller of one of the well-known online stores in China put a simple silicone case and a film on the screen in the kit. You can also ask the seller to report these small, but useful bonuses for the purchase.

Several colors are available for sale, and all of them, of course, are bright.

Of course, the device is very similar to the iPhone 5C. The only difference is that the body of the Chinese is not so angular and, of course, more than its "apple" competitor. Affected by the display with an increased diagonal (5 inches versus 4 in the "apple" device).

Nevertheless, Meizu M2 mini has a modest size and will surely appeal to fans of compact devices and ardent opponents of shovels with a screen of 5.5 inches and above. Personally, I am more comfortable using smartphones with a large screen - after all, there is much more information here, but I really liked this Chinese man. It is compact, all so neat, perfectly assembled and straight out of the box. In order not to fall further into a pink mood, let's look at the mass-dimensional characteristics of the gadget in comparison with its closest competitors.

A budget smartphone is not a reason to save on everything. Obviously, this is what Meizu thinks and it would not hurt to follow this rule for other, larger manufacturers. This is what I mean. Above the screen is a standard set of all existing front elements: a light sensor, a proximity sensor, a camera for self-portraits and an LED indicator that flashes in different colors depending on a specific event.

The situation is more original under the display. There are no familiar touch buttons that Android users are used to. Instead, there is only one physical mBack key with a touch surface. The controls are extremely simple: touched once - took a step back, pressed the button (it flexes slightly) - went to the working screen.

Touch recognition by the touch pad is amazing.

I remember that I scolded for this, but in that case the raw version of the software affected. Subsequently, this bug was fixed and everything began to work as expected. The M2 Mini is also a novelty, but everything works fine from the beginning. Of course, there are minor flaws, but there are no critical ones.

The transition to the applications hanging in the background (multitasking) is caused by a simple swipe from the bottom edge of the display to its middle. Again, everything is done conveniently, without flaws.

Plastic sides of the case stick out along the perimeter of the front side. They stick out quite a bit above the glass, but they are quite noticeable to the touch, as they are slightly pointed. They do not cause significant discomfort, but it would be better if they were rounder.

At the back, everything is very minimalistic. The branded lettering is closer to the bottom edge and the camera peephole, flush with the entire surface of the case. Underneath is a one-piece LED flash.

The SIM card tray is located on the left side. Outside it is plastic, and inside it is made of metal. It makes it possible to install two Nano-cards at once or a combination of SIM cards and Micro SD memory cards up to 128 GB.

The tray itself very noticeably wobbles in all directions, even when closed. Perhaps, this is the only moment to which one can find fault with the assembly of the device.

On the right side there is a standard combination of volume and power buttons. Their movement is distinct, but they, again, stagger in their grooves, but I have not yet seen a single device where the physical keys would fit perfectly into the body.

Above is a single 3.5 mm headphone jack. There he belongs.

And on the bottom there is a Micro USB port, a hole for a microphone, two mounting bolts and a perforation for a multimedia speaker. I can't say anything good about the latter.

Its volume is average, and the sound quality of the melodies that you downloaded to the device memory and set to a call, to put it mildly, is not very good.

Usually, when we discuss the quality of external speakers, I say that there is some kind of low frequency. Naturally, no smartphone can produce normal bass. But in M2 mini there is not even this similarity - just some kind of noise in the background. If you do not know the melody, then you may not understand that the speaker is trying to play you low and something like midrange. Something like this.

Standard melodies (like "tru-lu-lu") sound loud. They should be put on the call if you don't want to miss it from time to time.

Display

In this respect, the M2 mini is all right. A completely normal IPS-display with a diagonal of exactly 5 inches and a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (HD) is installed. For such an area of \u200b\u200bthe screen, a dot density of 296 ppi is quite enough. Usually we use our gadgets at a distance of 30-40 centimeters from our eyes and it is not easy to distinguish pixelation in this case.

The sandwich of the screen is made by the method of full lamination, that is, without an air gap between the glass and the LED substrate.

I would like to draw your attention to the protective glass. In our case, AGC Dragontrail is used, but that's not the point.

The panel is covered with a high quality oleophobic coating.

Moreover, it copes so well with the fight against fingerprints that by this parameter it can be safely attributed to the category of flagship solutions.

In my opinion, the oleophobic coating is very important and without it it is difficult to use a touch device comfortably. Firstly, the accumulating prints and dust spoil all raspberries - it looks very obscene. And secondly, it is very pleasant to run your finger over the oleophobic coating. It does not cling to anything and glides gracefully over the surface. Unfortunately, many manufacturers do not consider it necessary to equip their products with this coating. Moreover, we are talking about devices that cannot be called fully budget - up to about 15,000 rubles.

Viewing angles, contrast and richness of colors are expectedly good. The use of an IPS matrix affects.

Only diagonally and at one, specific angle, the picture for some reason begins to be inverted. Everything else is good.

Specifications Meizu M2 mini (model M578M)

For any budget device or so, the issue of built-in hardware is very sensitive. Either it is relatively powerful, but all the other components are nonexistent (an outdated TFT screen, a camera for a tick, and so on), or the specifications are weak, but, for example, a built-in battery will give odds to a nuclear submarine. But who are all these gadgets for ?!

It is gratifying that the M2 mini has managed to become an exception to these rules. The installed processor, of course, cannot be called a flagship; nevertheless, it is 64-bit and shows good performance by modern standards. In addition, the phone has two gigabytes of RAM (instead of 512 MB or 1 GB) and a new type of built-in flash memory of 16 GB. The rest of the specifications are below.

  • 64-bit MediaTek MT6735 processor (4 cores Cortex-A53) @ 1.3 GHz
  • mali-T720 graphics up to 600 MHz
  • rAM 2 GB LPDDR3 (free about 1180 MB)
  • built-in storage 16 GB (actually available 10.39 GB) EMMC 5.0
  • support for Micro SD memory cards up to 128 GB
  • front camera 5 MP (4 lenses, f / 2.0)
  • main camera 13 MP (5 lenses, f / 2.2)
  • sensors: light and proximity sensor, accelerometer, digital compass, magnetic sensor
  • battery 2500 mAh
  • connectors: Micro USB 2.0 (OTG supported), 3.5 mm audio out
  • dimensions: 140.1 x 68.9 x 8.7 mm
  • weight 131 g

Wireless interfaces:

  • 2G, 3G, 4G (more on LTE in the next section)
  • Wi-Fi (802.11 a / b / h / n) Dual-Band (2.4 and 5 GHz)
  • Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE), NFC no
  • A-GPS, GLONASS

I'll tell you a little more about the processor. Our 64-bit "stone" was created using 28-nanometer technology relatively recently - at the end of 2014. It includes four Cortex-A53 cores. The maximum frequency can reach 1.5 GHz, but in our case it is slightly reduced to 1.3 GHz, apparently in order to more adequate power consumption.

The system-on-a-chip also includes a Mali-T720 graphics accelerator and a Cat LTE modem. 4. Gentleman's set, so to speak.

Performance and stability

In 64-bit mode, the device is gaining an average number of virtual parrots in the AnTuTu test by today's standards. See for yourself.

The results for the rest of the benchmarks are below.

However, this is not the most important thing. Only the behavior of the animation when working with simple tasks and the gameplay on the example of several modern 3D toys matter. We have selected several as test samples.

Dead Trigger 2 doesn't just go, it really flies on our device. Even high graphics parameters are swallowed by a smartphone with a bang.

Medium graphics settings

Max. graphics settings

The device performed well in Unkilled: at medium graphics settings and, of course, at the lower ones. At maximum, the game, of course, started, but the gameplay with a frequency of 15 frames per second cannot be called comfortable. In general, put automatic settings and you will be happy. Personally, it seemed to me that only in this case is the optimal balance between gaming performance and graphic beauty achieved.

By tradition, one of the most resource-demanding toys is Real Racing 3, but the M2 mini made friends with it quite well. Of course, there is no perfect smoothness, but you can always play comfortably. I did not notice any drawdowns in frame rate.

The device reproduces Full HD without problems. Hangs, lags - none of this.

As for the animation when navigating through the menu, switching between applications, there are no problems here either. The system has a good response, nothing slows down. Scrolling through absolutely all lists (contacts, installed applications, running processes) is perfect. As for the performance, Flyme OS 4.5.3.2 is optimized perfectly.

And now a fly in the ointment, or rather, several at once. With all the visual beauty and optimization, I still managed to catch a few glitches.

A couple of times upon receiving an incoming call, the third-party ringtone did not start and the device seemed to be in silent mode. Once I got the opposite situation. The call melody has been playing for a long time, but the screen does not want to light up.

And a couple of times I came across the fact that the phone did not see the SIM card on either of the two slots. Rebooting did not help, but several hours of keeping the device in a quiet and dark place saved the situation and the SIM card still started up.

Work with SIM-cards and support for LTE networks

We have already figured out that two Nano cards can be installed in the device. Alternatively, you can use one SIM card and a Micro SD memory card. There is a tiny diagram of all this on the card tray itself.

4G network can work on any slot, however, if one card is installed with active LTE, then the second will work only in 2G bands. This moment is regulated in the settings (item "Data transmission").

In standby mode, both SIM-cards are active, however, when talking through one operator, the call to the second SIM card will not work. Thus, we found out that one radio module is installed inside. This is normal.

Let's talk about:

- Modifications Meizu M2 mini
- Photographic capabilities of a smartphone
- Software shell
- Time autonomous work
- Outcomes

Meizu M2 mini is the company's second ultra-budget gadget, which interested users with the most favorable price-performance ratio. Already during the presentation, it became clear that this is the main contender for the title of the best 100-dollar smartphone, but is it really that good?

Appearance and ergonomics

Meizu M2 mini is made in the image and likeness of its "older brother" with the note prefix. Outwardly, they differ only in size, otherwise a complete analogy - the same plastic monolithic body with rounded ends, a glass-covered front surface and an oval button in the center.

This is not to say that the smartphone looks like an expensive device, no, it is rather a gadget from the category “ stylish trendy youth". The body is available in four colors, three are available in Russia: white, blue and gray. The first two are glossy, the last one is matte. We got a blue one for the test, which initially gave the impression of an ordinary Chinese "toy", but after a closer acquaintance, the opinion changed somewhat.

The smartphone is perfectly assembled, convenient for one-handed use, but in the case of glossy plastic it is slippery, and strives to fall out of the hands with awkward movement. Gloved use is out of the question. This problem is probably less relevant in the case of the gray case.

Located under the display mechanical button does not have a built-in fingerprint scanner, but recognizes a short press (activate the backlight and exit to the desktop), pinch (turn on the screen lock) and touch (go back). In general, it is very convenient to use it, you get used to it quickly, if you wish, you can set other actions.

It is also worth noting the presence of a miniature LED-indicator signaling missed events, it is located above the display to the right of the speaker. It does not light up sharply, gradually, it also goes out. Looks pretty.

Display

Meizu M2 mini is equipped with a 5-inch capacitive touch screen with a high-quality IPS-matrix and a resolution of 1280x720 pixels (296 ppi). The maximum brightness reaches 400 cd / m2, which is really noticeable - even in the sun the picture remains quite readable.

There is an anti-reflective coating and protective glass AGC Dragontrail. Regarding the reliability of the latter, nothing bad can be said, with careless wearing of the smartphone, the back cover will lose its presentation much earlier than the front panel.

In general, the screen is decent for its price category - optimal contrast, maximum viewing angles with practically no color inversion. Those who like to peer into the “ladder” of pixels will also be pleasantly surprised - they will only be able to see the “grain” point-blank. In the display settings, you can adjust the dynamic blur of the picture during animation and the color temperature.

Iron

At the heart of the hardware filling is a 64-bit quad-core MediaTek MT6735 with a frequency of 1.3 GHz and a Mali T-720 graphics accelerator. The solution is budgetary, and you shouldn't expect much from it. Paired with 2 GB of RAM, such a chip is quite capable of providing a smooth interface of the shell and a minimum of delays in everyday tasks, but there are slight "brakes" in the browser and top three-dimensional games.

In terms of points in the benchmarks, everything is also quite predictable, although the same AnTuTu does not vouch for the honesty of the M2 mini 27,652 points. It is possible that there is an artificial cheat, that is, deception of the tester.

In Vellamo, the smartphone is completely defined as the Gionee M2, which has nothing in common with the Meizu M2 mini. Probably the reason for the confusion is the similarity of the names of the models. Be that as it may, the results here are quite plausible and pretty good: 1,884 in the browser test, 1,409 in Multicore, 983 in Metal. In the latest, the M2 mini is almost on par with last year's flagship MX4.

In terms of internal storage, there is 16 GB of high-speed EMMC 5.0 from Samsung, which is a rarity for devices in this price category. Plus there is a card slot microSD up to 128 GB, which is also commendable.

Communication and communication

The only tray of the smartphone provides the ability to install two nanoSIM cards, in both cases 4G is supported, but use for high speed mobile internet only one of them is possible, the second automatically switches to GSM mode only for calls.

With the rest of the set of communications, everything is quite standard - there is Wi-Fi a / b / g / n (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS and GLONASS. There is only an NFC module, which is expected. Additionally, OTG support is provided for connecting external media. There were no problems with connecting to the operator's network and signal quality during use.

Sound

There is nothing to please those who like to listen to music on a smartphone through the speaker - the sound quality is very mediocre, the detail is low, but the maximum volume is such that even on a noisy street you can hear the call without any problems.

The situation is a little better in the case of headphones, here the ears no longer "wither", and even with mediocre plugs, the device is quite suitable for the role of a permanent player. You can customize the sound using a proprietary player with an equalizer and technology support Dirac HD Sound... The latter, in theory, provides improved compatibility with certain headphones, but in practice this turned out to be little perceptible.

System

Works M2 mini on android base 5.1 Lollipop with a proprietary shell Flyme 4.5, which successfully hides all the visual delights of the fresh version of the "green robot" like Material Design with its colors and animations. If you are not a fan of the pure version of Android, Flyme may well surprise you, because it is a simple and at the same time user-friendly interface.

This shell does not provide a traditional list of applications - icons for all installed games and programs are displayed on desktops. Many standard widgets are missing, and there were no proprietary alternatives either. This problem is, of course, solved by Google play, but in general it is strange that there is not even the usual clock that usually decorates the main screen.

One more meizu feature - a list of running applications, which is traditionally displayed by pressing a mechanical or on-screen button on the right, but the M2 mini has neither one nor the other. Everything turned out to be quite simple, in the Flyme 4.5 shell this action is implemented through a swipe up from the bottom of the screen.

The default notification shade displays five quick settings, but the icon in the right corner opens their full list, including the "do not disturb" mode, and the flashlight, and the access point. The control panel is also displayed here. music player and recent actions like screenshots and file uploads - in general, everything is quite standard.

Themes for transforming the interface are still not localized, so you will have to be content with just changing the background. As for the preinstalled software, it can be noted that it is quite usable file manager, the previously mentioned music player and drawing tool.

Also, among the preinstalled applications, there is a security center that allows you to clean memory, detect potential threats and configure autorun and permissions for individual applications.

In the settings, it is worth highlighting the item Fast awakeningthat allows a specific program or service to assign a special character to launch directly from the lock screen. For example, you drew "C" - the camera turned on, "W" - the browser, and so on. At the same point, the option to switch tracks by swiping across the lock screen is activated, which is quite convenient, although not new.

From unpleasant - excessive protection against accidental swipes, if it is, of course. The screen cannot be unlocked when the smartphone is held by its upper part, that is, when the light sensor is covered (it is to the left of the speaker). It's not May outside, and the gloves are more relevant than ever, the lid of the M2 mini is slippery, therefore, in order not to drop it, sometimes you involuntarily grab the case stronger - it is with this that your finger can easily close the sensor. The result of this "concern" is a message about the refusal to unlock. For the next attempt, you will have to wait a couple of seconds or remove the warning by double pressing the volume key.

Cameras

Meizu M2 mini is equipped with a 13-megapixel camera with a Samsung CMOS sensor, 5 lenses, f / 2.2 aperture and protective glass Gorilla Glass 3. At the sight of these parameters, the hope was ripe that the pictures would be pleasantly surprised, but in reality everything turned out to be different. In situations with sufficient lighting photos are often blurry, but at dusk or in a room with dim light, sometimes quite decent shots were obtained.

The set of settings here is standard for Meizu - there is HDR activation, adjustment of brightness, exposure and ISO, grid or level output for those who like to fill up the horizon, as well as a set of effects and color filters.

The front camera is 5 megapixels. It also lacks stars from the sky, but in general the pictures are quite acceptable. Girls may like a special self-portrait enhancement service that allows you to change skin tone, enlarge eyelashes, paint on lips, get a facelift or apply blush.

Working hours

The smartphone received a non-removable battery with a capacity of 2,500 mAh. The manufacturer claims 23 hours of phone talk time, 12 hours of Wi-Fi use and 45 hours of music playback. In general, the data is really close to reality, even with a very intensive mode, the battery will last until the evening without recharging. If you are not a fan of mobile games, and you do not disappear in the browser for hours - you can count on two or three days.

Summary

Meizu managed to release a really worthy state employee, all the shortcomings of which simply fade against the background of the official starting price of 599 yuan or 6,000 rubles, now - around 8,000 rubles. For this money, I simply don't want to look for cons in a smartphone, but alas, the official Russian price was 12,990 rubles. Is it expensive for such a smartphone? Still no.

Yes, there are a few shortcomings typical for gadgets of this class, but even with them, the M2 mini looks more attractive than most of its competitors, both in terms of appearance and filling. In the hands, it feels like a really high-quality solid device that can convince even the most inveterate skeptics who still do not recognize the successes of Chinese manufacturers.

Chinese manufacturers are steadily increasing their presence in the global smartphone market. More and more strong models that are in demand among buyers appear not only in the budget, but also in the middle price segment.

Meizu M2 Mini can be called a striking representative of such "middle peasants", which is able to compete with the "flagships". The review of the device that we conducted to write this article will show what features this phone has, and what to expect from it in practice. We will also consider the reviews about the model and the characteristics of those who managed to work with this device.

Positioning

By the name of the model, we can say that it is defined by the developer as a simplified, more accessible version of the "main" device - meizu smartphone M2 Note. Mini (which we will review) has a slightly curtailed functionality, due to which it is offered cheaper. However, considering this phone, one should not confuse it with the "wretched" Chinese models, which have the simplest and "sluggish" processor, a small faded screen and a weak battery. No, this time the developers approached the reduction of the price of the smartphone more responsibly, choosing the optimal components for the money that the buyer pays.

Unfortunately, the smartphone is not that affordable in the domestic market. Its cost is 13 thousand rubles - and this price characterizes, rather, the middle segment of phones. However, when we were preparing the review, we noticed that the phone works quite well and, judging by its functions, it pays for the invested funds. Thus, it justifies even its not the most budgetary cost.

Appearance

It's no secret that Chinese manufacturers often turn their attention to how the products of the most advanced companies, such as Apple or Samsung, are arranged. In this sense, the M2 Mini, the review of which we have prepared, does not stand out from a number of these devices. Even a cursory glance at the image of the device, you can definitely say that it resembles Apple iPhone 6. If you take a smartphone in your hand, then the sensations are somewhat similar due to both similar dimensions and the same weight of the models.

Certain elements of the smartphone body were clearly borrowed from the "apple" company. For example, the device of the frame around the perimeter of the phone, the appearance of the Home key (unless you count the fact that it is more elongated), the layout of materials on the Meizu M2 Mini. The review clearly demonstrates that the smartphone is implemented in the same style, which is, in fact, a win-win for many developers from China.

And this is confirmed not only by our personal experience with the phone, but also by the reviews presented. Due to its dimensions, the model lies very comfortably in the hand, looks solid and pleasant to the touch.

The design of the phone itself is not demountable, which significantly increases its strength. The back cover is plastic, while the base of the device is made of metal. Covers, by the way, can be changed at the discretion of the user - in total, the manufacturer has 4 of them in the assortment: gray, pink, blue and white.

Navigation elements

The described smartphone also possesses some features due to the placement of functional holes and navigation elements. In particular, as you can see in the presented photos, the Meizu M2 Mini, which we are reviewing, has a large oval Home key. It is very similar to the touch button for fingerprint scanning that the iPhone has. I would also like to mention the "rocker" for adjusting the sound, located on the side edge, and the button for unlocking the display, installed a little higher.

Of the functional holes on the M2, there is a speaker located at the bottom of the phone case, as well as a port for connecting a charger. There is a headphone jack (3.5mm jack) on the top of the phone. The back cover of the smartphone also has holes for the camera and flash.

Screen

The display size of the phone reaches 5 inches. This is considered to be the optimal indicator, given the needs modern users and the capabilities that phones of this class have. The screen resolution is 1280 x 720 pixels, which allows us to speak of an average density of about 296 dpi. There is no graininess in day-to-day work, although you can still find pixels in some places if you want to.

The display glass is also protected (we are talking about AGC Dragontrail technology) and covered with a special oleophobic layer. Due to this, it is pleasant to work with it (due to its ease of sliding) and safe. As practical tests have shown, even after long-term use of the device in moderate mode, not a single scratch appeared on the glass. Although we would still recommend purchasing a case for your Meizu M2 Mini, especially since their assortment is very wide on any Chinese portal! We will not talk about films, various additional coatings - this is an already obvious opportunity to "tune" your device and make it even more secure for the future.

Battery

Dedicated to Meizu M2 Mini Model Review, Customer Reviews and specifications devices contain a wealth of information about battery behavior. This is not surprising, because the "endurance" of the battery directly determines the comfort of using the device. Accordingly, you will be an order of magnitude more satisfied with your smartphone if it shows remarkable autonomy.

The model we are describing has a 2500 mAh battery. She, as it turned out, is not removable. Its volume is large enough to provide the model with 12-13 hours of calls. Thus, in economy mode, the phone will last 3-4 days without additional charging!

Software optimization plays an important role in smartphone energy consumption. So, as shown by a review dedicated to Meizu M2 Mini 16Gb, the smartphone has the ability to switch to one of three power modes, which are called "Energy Saving", "Balanced" and "Performance". By switching between them, you can even more significantly reduce battery drain and extend the operating time of the smartphone.

CPU

The phone has a relatively new processor, which was presented to the world only this year. We are talking about - a quad-core "heart" of the device, issuing up to 1.5 GHz clock frequency for each of the cores. The GPU here is Mali T-720, which supports OpenGL ES and Open CL.

As noted by reviews, the smartphone has some difficulties with playing games (especially at higher requirements). As far as day-to-day work is concerned, with simple basic steps, everything runs smoothly and smoothly.

Of course, the smartphone can be called a budget one, so you shouldn't count on “performance miracles” here. However, there are no particular difficulties here.

Communication

The main features (communication) in the device are no different from what is present in the mass of other phones of this class. In particular, this is the presence of a GSM module, support for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, the ability to work with GSP. GLONASS can also be attributed to the number of systems that support navigation on this smartphone.

A positive aspect of Meizu M2 Mini (the firmware installed on the device does not matter) is the ability to work with LTE. Moreover, in the settings menu, the user can independently choose in which mode this or that SIM card will be available.

But NFC is not observed here, so you will have to forget about other “remote things”.

Camera

On the smartphone, as it became established, two cameras are installed - the main one, the matrix resolution of which is 13 megapixels and the front one (5 megapixels). Of course, these specifications can be "inflated" by the Chinese manufacturer in order to attract more buyers of Meizu M2 Mini. A camera overview is what can help you understand what the device really is.

If you believe the reviews, the quality of the shooting can be called good. Both cameras maintain the color balance at a decent level, reproduce saturation, and retain the sharpness of the picture. The only remark can be made, perhaps, regarding the cut-off viewing angles. They are really narrower than you can see on many other phones.

The software part of the photo and video camera is also at its best here - the device has a wide range of settings that can significantly change the quality of the resulting image. For example, here you can adjust the shutter speed, ISO options and more.

operating system

The base of work for the Meizu M2 Mini (which we are conducting a detailed review) is Android 5.1 (current at the time of the release of the device). It is possible that the device is now adapted to work with the "six", which appeared relatively recently.

True, fans of the interface of this system should be immediately warned: there is almost nothing left of the “native” device on the device. The model is pre-installed with a shell developed by the manufacturer. It is called Flyme and, to be honest, everyone's attitude towards it can be purely individual. A feature of this version is, for example, the absence of the system keys at the bottom of the screen that are familiar to all of us. Instead, there are three shortcut buttons; and you can go back to home or back by using various combinations of pressing the Home button.

In recent years, the Meizu corporation has been making active efforts to conquer the consumer market, and it should be noted that it succeeds very well. The brand produces a huge number of gadgets with a wide variety of characteristics for every taste and for every budget. Along with expensive flagship models, the company's lineup includes devices with a significantly lower cost, but at the same time little inferior to their electronic counterparts. One of these models is Meizu M2 Mini, which is reviewed in this article.

By and large, this is a budget variation of the M2 Note, designed for those who want to become the owner of a high-quality and functional smartphone, but at the same time do not want to pay extra money for additional screen inches and parameters that are not of fundamental importance.

Design

In the context of the traditional smartphone market, companies find it difficult to invent any design delights that would radically distinguish their products from the endless stream of monotonous monoblock gadgets. These are the realities of the time, and, by and large, Meizu in this case also failed to do something that goes beyond the framework established by the technical requirements. We still see a rectangular case with rounded corners, a flat front panel and a smooth transition into beveled edges at the back.

Nevertheless, the design of the M2 Mini, like the rest of the devices of the Chinese corporation, has certain proprietary features that make it possible to accurately determine the origin of the device. If you wish, you can find a certain similarity with Apple's products in this smartphone, but we are not talking about any plagiarism, Asian designers approached the matter responsibly and created their own unique thing.

The dimensions of the Meizu M2 Mini are as follows: 14 x 6.8 x 0.87 cm. Such dimensions allow you to comfortably hold the device in your hand and fully use it on the go, absolutely not straining, as is often the case with larger devices.

To prevent damage to the screen, the creators decided not to install the expensive Corning protective glass, preferring the more budgetary, but high-quality Dragontail option. There is also an oleophobic coating, but it cannot be called ideal, since fingerprints on the display still remain.

High reliability of the case is ensured by magnesium alloy, from which the case base is made. But the back panel is not made of metal, but of high quality polycarbonate. The quality of materials and the level of workmanship meet the highest standards and do not indicate the budget of the smartphone.

The company offers several color options to choose from, but the most presentable is the gray Meise M2 Mini. Although blue, white and pink are undoubtedly also very popular colors, as they allow you to stand out from the homogeneous mass of gray-black gadgets.

Display

The developers have endowed the Meizu M2 Mini with a standard 5-inch screen, which makes it the smallest of the M and MX family, but this size is quite enough for all everyday functions, so that the user will not feel any discomfort.

The display is 110 millimeters long, 62 mm wide, while the margins on the sides reach only 3.5 mm, and in the upper and lower parts - 1.5 mm. The screen takes up a little more than ¾ of the dimensions of the case itself. For ease of use, an anti-reflective coating is applied.

The Meizu M2 Mini display has an HD screen resolution, that is, it has 1280 pixels on the larger side and 720 pixels on the smaller side. So there are just under 300 pixels per inch.

The screen has excellent viewing angles, but image distortion occurs at a certain level of tilt. In general, the picture displayed on the display turns out good quality, not absolutely perfect, but also without obvious flaws. Considering the price category of this device, the screen can be considered excellent in general, since many manufacturers offer weaker options for the same money.

Sound

As is the case with other Meizu gadgets, in this smartphone the sound is clearly one of the strong points. In this regard, the developers are really worth praising, since they tried to do everything so that listening to music, like ordinary talking on the phone, brings extremely positive emotions.

The installed speaker is characterized by loud and clear sound, which, even at maximum, does not produce the unpleasant effects typical of many budget smartphones. Everything here is on a level, without noise and overload. Music lovers will certainly get the highest pleasure from listening to music with headphones, since the sound quality in them goes to a new level, the volume threshold also increases.

By the way, for playing music files in the Meizu M2 Mini, a proprietary player is provided, which has good functionality. Small disadvantages include the lack of an integrated radio, which the developers, as before, are neglected.

Cameras

The Meizu M2 Mini smartphone, as usual for modern mobile gadgets, is equipped with a pair of cameras: the main one - 13 megapixels and the front one - 5 megapixels. The main camera has five lenses and an f / 2.2 aperture, while the Meizu M2 Mini's selfie camera has an f / 2.0 aperture.

To obtain better pictures in low light levels, an LED flash is used. The rear camera is protected from possible damage by using a protective glass from Corning.

The images obtained with the main camera of Meizu M2 Mini are of a very high quality, with a good level of detail, adjusted white balance, and a minimum amount of noise. Focusing during photography is fast and clear.

The Meizu M2 Mini selfie camera also raises a minimum of complaints, doing an excellent job with the tasks assigned to it.

Video shooting can be carried out in full high-resolution format with a frequency of 30 frames per second, provided there is sufficient illumination and 15 frames / s, if conditions are not the best. The resulting video is of high definition and generally quite high quality. The only complaint that can be made is the insufficient viewing angle, due to which the frame is cut by about a third.

The camera has a ton of settings that you can set to your liking, including ISO, shutter speed, and more.

Memory and memory card

One of the most important indicators for modern smartphones is memory, and with this, Meizu M2 Mini is also doing well. The volume of "RAM" on this device is 2 gigabytes. Of course, today you won't surprise anyone with 3 gigabytes, however, given the price segment of this smartphone, this figure can be considered quite good.

The Chinese company's product also has no problems with integrated memory. A standard 16 gigabyte is enough for downloading your favorite music, saving memorable vacation photos, and even for several films. If this is not enough, there is a possibility to install a micro-SD-card up to 128 GB.

Communication

This device is designed for the use of two SIM-cards, and both slots support modern LTE-networks, which is not so often found in budget smartphones. True, there is one technical feature: both cards are unable to function in 4G simultaneously: if one is connected, then the second automatically switches to the GSM standard. The signal reception is excellent, there are no unreasonable dropouts or floats (unless this is due to a problem with the network itself).

There is also a whole range of basic communication capabilities: WiFi in two bands (2.4 and 5 gigahertz), Bluetooth version 4.0, there is also a micro-USB-connector with support for OTG technology.

Battery life and performance

The creators decided to equip the M2 Mini with a 2500 mAh lithium-ion battery. This is quite enough to ensure the autonomous operation of the phone during the day with fairly active use, and when playing music it will be enough for almost two days. In standby mode, the battery can withstand up to 680 hours.

The high level of performance, confirmed by a number of tests, is ensured by the unique multiprocessor technology, which assumes the joint work of the central quad-core processor model MT6735 from MediaTek with the graphics processor Mali-T720.

operating system

The gadget is controlled by the OS Android version 5.1, which has been modified through the introduction of the proprietary Flyme 4.5 shell, which is installed on Meizu phones. However, such a creative initiative of Chinese developers gave little to the M2 smartphone, since the original version, perhaps, looks better, more attractive and functional.

Outcome

Meizu is gradually becoming one of the main Chinese manufacturers in the portable gadget market. Its leaders made the right decision to move away from the vicious practice of copying other people's devices and releasing cheap, low-quality products, which was common among manufacturers of the Middle Kingdom in 2000. Today, the presence of the Meizu logo speaks not of the modest financial capabilities of its owner, but of the ability to count money, not overpay for the brand and the desire to stand out from the mass of owners of Samsung and Apple gadgets.

The Meizu M2 smartphone is a high-quality device with an attractive appearance and by no means mediocre characteristics at a very modest price. The device has an ergonomic design, it is convenient to use it in any situation. An undoubted advantage, as for a budget model, is support for 4G technology, which not all phones of even a higher price category can boast of. Also worth noting is the excellent quality of the images obtained with the help of cameras and the excellent sound produced by the built-in speakers.

In general, Meizu M2 is an excellent choice for people who need a practical, beautiful, reliable and functional phone for every day. There is nothing superfluous here, but there is everything necessary for a modern person.

Good day to the readers of our site! Today we have a great review in the heading - a budget-level smartphone. But this is exactly the budget that is extremely interesting.

The January premiere from the Chinese brand Meizu M1 became quite successful and competitive, but other Chinese companies did not stand still, which forced Meizu to launch a new fighter in the niche of budget smartphones - Meizu M2 in the summer for a sweet piece of pie in the niche of budget smartphones. In this article, I will provide you with a review on Meizu m2 mini. The Chinese did not surprise in the new product, however, they endowed it with twice the volume random access memorythan its predecessor had. New mini the model received a 4-core processor, which is inferior in total power to its predecessor, but differs in an excellent core frequency of 1.3 GHz. The appearance of the new item does not differ much from its predecessor - a polycarbonate case in several colors to choose from, edges and corners are rounded.

I got into my hands a white compact box, traditional for Meizu, made of snow-white thick cardboard. In addition to the smartphone itself, the box itself contains an instruction manual, a 1.2 amp charger, a SIM card tray extractor, and a USB cable.

My first impression was - how small he is! But what a cool he is! And indeed, it is much more convenient for them to use than a 5.5-inch smartphone. The wife was so delighted at all - for her, the smartphone was bought.

Meizu m2 mini design issue

In fact, the smartphone has nothing new in its design. The volume and power keys were moved to the right edge - everything else is the same as in the Meizu m2 Note.

The front panel from Dragontail is just like that of the older brother of the M2. At the bottom of the panel is the mBack button, which has already become a brand feature of the line.

On the right side there are a set of sensors, indicators, holes for speakers, a rocker for adjusting the volume and power. On the left side edge there is an oblong tray for two SIM cards (Nano). The second slot is unusual - it is combined and allows you to use it for both a Micro-SD card and a SIM. There is only one radio module, so the second SIM card will not be available during a conversation on the first one.

On the top of the polycarbonate case, there is a standard 3.5 headphone jack. MicroUSB and speakers with a microphone are located at the bottom.

A minimum of details on the back cover. In addition to the camera and the LED flash, I found only the MEIZU icon and the country of the manufacturer. An external review of Meizu M2 mini only confirmed the obvious and the following from the name - the phone is smaller than its predecessor in all respects, except for thickness.

I will not hide the fact that the usability of the phone, thanks to the rounded edges and its reasonable size, left a pleasant impression. No ergonomic problems, even with one hand. Surprisingly primary meizu M2 mini review left a very pleasant impression on the build quality. Surprisingly - because budget smartphone forms a bias, but this is definitely not the case. Nothing dangles or rattles, all panels are well-fitted, the phone is pleasantly in the hand, all buttons are exactly where they should be.

The Chinese have also saved on the oleophobic coating, so the phone will often ask to "clean", since any touch with a finger leaves an ugly mark. The problem is solved simply - we glue the matte film and voila! Our smartphone will not be dirty now!

Display

5-inch, with an extension of 1280 by 720. Three-part, having glass and two sensor layers-films, anti-reflective coating, which, unlike oleophobic, is still here. Viewing angles are good, but don't expect premium features from a budget phone. From some angles, a significant loss of brightness is noticeable, and sometimes too high a predominance of yellow. The sun will not become a hindrance, the brightness is at the level, the contrast is also. To be honest, the review of the Meizu M2 mini display showed one of the best results in the price segment, if not the best.

If we compare it with the Meizu M2 Note, then the latter is clearly better. It catches your eye literally immediately. But if you do not make a direct comparison - the display is very good, as for the budget segment.

The Chinese have equipped android phone 5.1 with Flyme 4.5 shell. We were able to optimize the technical and system part of the device successfully, everything works without lags and brakes. The touchscreen responds well. The bottom swipe will give you access to Wi-Fi, brightness control, Bluetooth and a few more basic functions. The top swipe will open a list of recent applications, and a long hold at an empty point will open a useful settings panel with widgets, wallpaper settings, icons.

Meizu Review M2 mini features various features such as double tap unlock, application activation by finger drawing, SmartTouch function. What caught my eye, or rather even my ears, was a really loud click when using the mBack button. Meizu M2 provides the ability to choose one of three modes of energy use - energy saving, optimal balance, performance. Naturally, the screen can be adjusted to the color scheme that pleases you.

Do not worry about performance either, most games do not load the phone to the point of inability to work correctly, which will delight those who like to while away the time with toys. A pleasant discovery for me personally as a connoisseur of sound was the presence of a high-quality sound on the device. Meizu M2 mini review in terms of speaker capabilities and headphone playback, it showed that volume, sound level, saturation, low frequencies - everything is present in due measure, which is not expected from a budget phone. The only annoying thing to note is the lack of a built-in FM receiver.

A question for photographs.

What to hide - the smartphone received exactly the same camera module as its older brother Meizu M2 Note. But he can boast of a macro shooting glitch. This glitch was found not only for me, but also on the profile branch of w3bsit3-dns.com they also write a lot about it. Most likely, this is a software miscalculation and it will be removed with the next firmware.

The quality of shooting on the phone leaves no questions - both the video and the photo are quite worthy, as you can see in the photos of Meizu M2 mini. The presence of the exposure function, which came here from more expensive price segments, is encouraging.

It is raining and overcast in Kiev now, so you need to make allowances for poor lighting.
