Error in CRC data when copying. How to correct the error in CRC data? CHKDSK Disc Checking

At times, when the main temporary storage of files was CDs, this error occurred when reading mainly scratched and pirate disks. Today, the reasons for its appearance became much more (since the methods of transferring files to the "screw" also became greater), although the mistake itself began to meet less often. We list the factors leading to the failure:

 • Damaged surface of the optical disk;
 • Unstable network operation, when transferring files via the Internet;
 • Attempt to download or use knowingly "broken" file;
 • Damaged surface of the hard drive;
 • Violations in the file system structure (for example, in the file system of the USB carrier).

In all these situations, the file will either fail at all, or it can be done only after restoration work. The OS recognizes the problem on the mismatch of the so-called file checksum (or CRC), which is calculated during its recording to the carrier or attempt to read from the media. The user is issued a window with a diagnostic message: "Error in Data (CRC)".

How to treat CRC data error?

If the file checksum did not coincide before it is transferred to the disk, then only the search for its analogue will help correct the position. For example, by downloading the broken torrent, it is useless to mess around with him. It is much easier to search the same distribution elsewhere.

Or if this file downloaded from the Internet or you copied it to the USB flash drive - the easiest to download the file.

If the problem arises systematically, then it follows it under your nose. First, it follows.

Hard Disk Check Options on Bad Sectors in Victoria

As for the flash drive, you can try to start checking for the presence and correct error on it. For this:

 • Select the flash drive icon in the "My Computer" window.
 • Click on the icon right mouse button.
 • In the context menu that opens, select the item "Properties".
 • In the window that appears, go to the "Service" tab.
 • Click on the "Check" button from the "Disc Check" group.

Check for errors with embedded Windows

If it does not help, and the disk check did not show the presence of serious problems with the carrier, "then you should contact the network quality test toolkit. The file downloaded by slices can become "broken" due to the cliff of the network during the injection process. A lot of tools will suit this check. Even embedded in Windows Utility Ping.

As you see the CRC HDD data error is related to the integrity of the file, when reading it occurs. It may be due to problems with the file itself and with the surface of the carrier on which it is located.

Error in Data (CRC) occurs not only with a built-in hard disk, but also with other drives: USB Flash, external HDD. This usually happens in the following cases: when downloading files through Torrent, installing games and software, copying and writing files.

The CRC error means that the file checksum does not match the one that should be. In other words, this file was damaged or changed, so the program and cannot process it.

Depending on the conditions under which this error occurred is a solution to the problem.

Method 1: Using the Operating Installation File / Image

Problem: When installing a game or program to a computer or when you try to write an image, the CRC error occurs.

Decision: This usually happens because the file was downloaded with damage. This could happen, for example, with an unstable working Internet. In this case, you need to download the installer again. If necessary, you can use the download manager or the Torrent program so that there are no connection breaks when downloading.

In addition, the downloaded file itself may be damaged, so when a problem occurs after re-downloading, you must find an alternative source of download ("Mirror" or Torrent).

Method 2: Checking disk for errors

Problem: There is no access to the entire disk or the installers stored on the hard disk that worked without any problems earlier.

Decision: Such a problem may occur if the hard disk file system is broken or it has broken sectors (physical or logical). If failed physical sectors are not amenable to correction, then the rest of the situations can be allowed using the hard disk error correction programs.

In one of our articles, we have already told how to eliminate the problems of the file system and sectors on the HDD.

Method 3: Search for correct distribution on Torrent

Problem: Downloaded via torrent The installation file does not work.

Decision: Most likely, you downloaded the so-called "bit of distribution". In this case, you need to find the same file on one of the torrent sites and download it again. The damaged file can be removed from the hard disk.

Method 4: Check CD / DVD

Problem: When you try to copy files from a CD / DVD disk pops up CRC error.

Decision: Most likely, the surface of the disk is damaged. Check it on dust, contamination, scratches. With a pronounced physical defect, most likely, nothing will happen. If the information is very necessary, you can try to use utilities to recover data from damaged drives.

Almost in all cases of one of the listed methods, it is enough to eliminate the error that has appeared.

To fix Cyclic Redundancy Check Error, you may have to solve hardware problems, such as the bad sectors on the hard disk. Often, removing contaminants from external media, such as CD or DVD (where data is copied) runs to stop the pop-up error messages. Cyclic redundancy control (CRC) is a message that appears on the computer screen whenever your computer reads damaged data. CRC, basically detects an error in a file that is read on your computer. This error message usually occurs when your computer tries to read data from damaged media, such as hard disk, CD or DVD.

When the data is transmitted to the PC, the CRC ensures that data, with numerous errors, will not get to the specified destination. That is why the damaged CD is not copied to your computer.

CRC error fixation

CD / DVD external media problems
Many times, the mud cluster on CD or DVD calls CRC Error. Cleaning this media with a soft tissue often solves the problem. Scratched CD or Paper Disk Label may also be a problem. This is because scratches or inscriptions do not allow you to record the correct data on the disk. Partially recorded discs, especially responsible for the appearance of this error. To extract information from damaged disks, there are software applications very useful in this regard. These data recovery tools, such as Lost Digital Images with damaged CD and DVD disks.

Problems with equipment
If the CRC error continues to be displayed even after starting cleaning the disk, then the problem is likely to be equipped. You need to check the CD and DVD DVD cleaning and clean them regularly. Find out whether these devices really function correctly. Replacing CD / DVD Reader to a new one can solve this problem.

With software

In such cases, the system can display messages like "an invalid Windows file" or "Invalid Win32 application. But this is actually a CRC error.

The file that was not properly downloaded from the Internet or the file transfer was interrupted, can also lead to CRC errors. Therefore, before opening the file, check, it was or not it is completely loaded. You can use download manager when downloading any file from the Internet. Application Manager Application, saves the track in the download process, and tells you when it is completed. Or, you can try again to download from the very beginning, and check whether the error will still occur.

Loss of compound
Defective connections between the computer and the rigid disk are called CRC messages that pop up on the screen. To fix the CRC error associated with problems in the network, you need to check all connections to decode the problem. Sometimes, the connection of DVD / CD discs is disconnected, and may affect the operation of the device.

Hard disk problems
In many cases, the CRC message is displayed on the screen when there is bad sectors on the destination disk (hard disk). So, although DVD / CD is completely normal, this error can still have. This is because the location (hard disk), where you are trying to save the file there are bad sectors. Check if there is bad sectors, running a NUL command running the command line. In fact, this command reads the contents of the file stored on the CD / DVD. For example, if the DVD disk on the computer E, and the nicks.txt file in the DVD is stored in the TNG \\ AUDIO folder, the command line will look like this:

E: > CD TNG \\ Audio

E: \\ TNG \\ Audio> Xcopy Nicks.txt Nul

1 File (S) Copied

Because the destination is not specified, it only reads the file. If the command is successful, you will receive the result as 1 File (S) Copied, i.e. The file is read successfully, and, as such, there is no problem with it. This means that the hard drive is damaged due to the bad sector. In this case, the solution is either to change the hard drive or write a DVD on another machine as a whole.

Repair of a hard disk
If you think about repairing a hard disk, you can run the recovered program for checking the hard disk, such as Spinrite. This program makes two things. First, it retrieves data from the bad sector. Secondly, it marks all the bad sectors, so that the data is never more recorded on them in the future. Another option to remove errors from the hard disk, execute the chkdsk command. This is a check of the disk with a command that determines the damaged sectors and tries to restore the readable information.

Run Chkdsk from user graphical interface (GUI)
Double-click on the desktop My Computer icon. Select the hard disk section you want to check. As we all know, letters are often used to give the name of the disk partitions. Depending on the size of your hard disk, it will have two or more sections. Therefore, if your hard disk has 4 sections, you must run the chkdsk command for each section of the entire hard disk.

Let's say you chose a section D (called Disk D) of your hard disk. Right-click on the DCE icon D and select 'Properties'.

The "Properties" window will appear on the screen of your computer. Click on the Tools tab for viewing "Check now."

Click the "Check Now" button.

The disk check window has two checkbox "Automatically correct system errors" and "check and restore damaged sectors'. Mark both fields and click the Start button to make sure that the errors that occur when checking are corrected immediately and the data from the bad sector is restored.

Important note
A rigid disk section, as a rule, contains operating system files running in the background when the computer is in operation. Therefore, if you decide to execute the CHKDSK command on a disk, the scanning is unlikely, which will begin at all. In fact, you will see the pop-up window that the message "Windows cannot check this disk during its use". This window appears in the event that you have the Windows 7 operating system installed. The pop-up window also has the "Disc Check Schedule" button. Click on this button and the disk check program will be assigned after you restart the computer. In other words, you need to turn off the computer correctly and run it again to start Chkdsk.

Run CHKDSK from the command line (CMD)In order to see the command line on the screen, first press the button "Start" button. Now enter "CMD" in the »Start Search Field and press the Enter key on the keyboard. You can view the command line utilities. Syntax Team CHKDSK CHKDSK [Disk:] to search and restore data from damaged sectors and correct other errors on C / R disk, enter "CHKDSK C: / R" on the command prompt and press the Enter button. To start the Chkdsk command to other disk partitions, replace 'with' by the letter that indicates the section of your disk.

However, if you are not interested in recovering data from damaged sectors and want to correct errors, then enter "CHKDSK C: / F". This command completely skips the poor sector when scanning a disc.

How long to wait for the completion of the CHKDSK / R operation? It will depend on the size of the hard disk and the number of damaged data. The more hard disk, the longer there will be a scanning duration. For example, the CHKDSK command that is performed on a 120 GB hard disk will take about 10 hours. On the other hand, a hard disk with a capacity of 1 terabyte filled with data may require 30-35 hours to complete the chkdsk command. Data recovery from damaged storageAs already mentioned above, the CRC error pops up when copying files from an external medium to a computer (hard disk) and indicates that the CD / DVD is bad sectors. Now the solution to extract data from external media. To do this, you need to go to the command line. Use the CD command to change the current working directory where the file is stored. Let's say User \\ Public - this is a folder, on your CD / DVD disk (on a disk E), from which you want to copy the file.

E: > CD File Location

E: > CD User \\ Public

The command line after executing the command looks like this - E: \\ User \\ Public> Pointing to our current user directory User \\ Public.

Suppose nicks.txt is the file name in which the data is stored. This file is stored in the folder (User / Public). Now we must transfer data from nicks.txt to another new place (say B: \\ Newfolder). To do this, you need to use the xcopy command, which allows you to copy one or more files from one folder to another.

Syntax looks like this: XCOPY SOURCE DESTINATION

So, now you need to enter a command line, which will allow you to copy the data and it will look like this-> E: \\ User \\ Public> Xcopy / C Nicks.txt B: \\ Newfolder

There is a high probability that xcopy can stop copying files as soon as it reads errors from the source (User / Public). To avoid such a situation, you also need to use "/ C" parameter. This ensures that XCopy copies the data continuously from the source.

In case you want to create a copy of all files in the User \\ Public folder, then instead of nicks.txt must be entered *. *.

So, xcopy will look xcopy / c *. * B: \\ Newfolder.

Another option is directly copying all the contents of the DVD / CD into a new folder on your computer. The syntax looks like this: XCOPY / C E: \\ Files C: \\ Files / S / I

Here is the data from files in the E disk folder (CD / DVD-drive of your computer) is copied to a new folder so-called files and is located on the C: disk. '/ S' option Allows you to copy all subdirectories located in E: \\ Files.

(No ratings no)

Very often when copying information from CD / DVD discs. gives CRC data error. What does it mean? This means that, unfortunately, your disk is damaged, and information cannot be copied. But do not despair - there is a way out! There are programswhich can read information from poorly readable or damaged disks. How to copy information from such disks - Talk in this article further.

CRC error meansThat your medium, that is, the disk, do not consider the mechanical damage due to mechanical damage. Or the drive on the computer is quite old and brought. First, try copying the disk on another computer and if the read error again happens - then the disk itself is damaged.

In this case, you need to examine the disk for the presence of dirt and damage. You can slightly wipe the disk from dust and fingers, do not leave divorces and without fanaticism! If there is damage to the top of the disk (where the inscriptions write) you need to draw a marker (sometimes helped).

Next, you need set one very useful program In such cases - Badcopy Pro. The program can read information from damaged disks. It implements special algorithms for reading failed sectors, due to which the checksum does not coincide and the CRC error pops up. But all, there is no full copy guarantee. For example, for video files it is not critical. When viewed, you practically do not notice a pair of bytes of missing (non-copied, damaged information). Maximum - a couple of incomprehensible spoiled frames may appear. But all the same information will be copied, and you can see it, and it is almost impossible to do it on a damaged disk! Such discs jerk, hang - and sometimes for a long time.

The Badcopy program can restore data from unreadable disks, floppy disks, hard drives, flash drives. The program allows you to restore multiple file types: graphic, text documents, executable files, archives, etc.
And a simple, intuitive interface and a step-by-step dialog master allow you to achieve a goal even a novice.

If the media is very damaged - be patient, but there is no warranty of 100% of the recovery of information. It all depends on the degree of damage to the disk. All recovered data program copies to the specified folder on the hard disk.

The program will also be able to help when necessary:

 • Get access to files that are not read.
 • Restore lost photos on digital cameras.
 • Restore files deleted from floppy disks as a result of quick formatting.
 • Restore lost files on diskettes, CD / DVD-R and CD / DVD-RW discs.
 • Restore data recorded during each of the sessions on CD / DVD-RW discs.

That's all - success!

When installing programs or games, it gives an error " Error in CRC data file cannot be copied". The same happens when copying some files from a disk or flash drive to a computer.

Most often at the emergence of this error, one of three reasons:

 1. A damaged file you are trying to open or copy.
 2. The carrier, flash drive, portable external hard disk, and so on is damaged.
 3. The operational memory of the computer is corrupted.

Damaged file

If you swing from the torrent, you delete files related to this distribution and torrent file. Then download again and try running again. If the error is repeated, then the problem is possible with the distribution and it is necessary to find another distributing and download a new torrent file.

If you swing from a flash drive or an external hard disk and get this error, most likely the file must be copied to the carrier again, since it will not be able to restore it.

Damaged carrier, flash drive or external hard drive

Press it right-click -> Properties -> Service -> Check for errors. If you are lucky, you can fix errors in automatic mode, after which everything will work fine. If the check does not help, then the file is no longer restored, and the carrier will have to be changed.

Verification of RAM

To check the RAM, download the MemTest program or analog. It will help to confirm the problem with memory and then you will need to replace this module with RAM. You can find a Memtest program or analogue in Google or Yandex in a couple of minutes upon request "Diagnostics of RAM".
