So, we got to the new section of creating your blog. This section will start with the basic concepts and, in fact, with the main plugins that we will need to activate. WordPress Plugin -it is a small "program" that extends the capabilities of WordPress. With the help of plugins, we are provided with almost limitless increases in the functionality of the blog. Need a poll on your blog? Or do you need to display popular posts on your blog? No problem - Plugins will help you... In most cases, they are fairly easy to enable. To do this, you just need to download, activate the plugin in the admin area, and, if required, add the plugin code to the template of our blog (I will talk about this in detail using examples of specific plugins). The question arises, why then the WordPress developers don't add all these features themselves? This is because most of the users on WordPress do not need all these "bells and whistles", but plugins have a negative (though not all) effect on the loading speed of your blog.

Do not load your blog with plugins, install them only when necessary.

Activating core WordPress plugins.

Since our version of WordPress is from lecactus, we have dozens of basic plugins included in the kit. Let's figure out how to activate this or that plugin and at the same time enable the main ones. For this:

I highly recommend that you enable these plugins too. Now my list of included plugins looks like this: That's all for today. I am waiting for you in the next lessons of the Beginner blog!

This plugin, like all previous plugins, needs to be installed on the blog before you start writing and posting anything. Here's a tip. Well, if you already have posted material on your blog. That is, you have a blog for a long time or you created it before you came across this material, then nothing bad will happen if you still install the recommended plugins.

What is such a plugin for? It is needed to correctly display all punctuation marks in articles and materials that you will post on your blog. And also for the normal display of any symbols that you will use in your articles.

In my case, the "dash" was displayed incorrectly, look at the picture below. Instead of a "dash" there was such an inscription (- and -). After installing the plugin, and I installed the basic plugins, much later than I created the blog, then the “dash” was displayed correctly.

And “quotes” were not displayed correctly yet, instead of them there was such an inscription (").

Basically, such an incorrect entry was in the blog map, so it's better that everything looks beautiful. The plugin fixes this error.

You need to download the plugin from the official website of the WordPress engine. In English it is spelled like this “wp-russian-typograph.2.3.5”. The numbers are the version of the plugin, they may differ. I think you already know how to install and activate it. You don't need to configure anything, and in principle everything ...

What would be all consistently in the installation of plugins, take a look!

In conclusion, I want to say that you can install other plugins that will make your blog work pleasant, and the blog itself attractive. Search, find plugins that work for you and install. I have a lot of plugins installed, I am not ready to publish their description yet, as I installed them when I still had no idea how and what to do on the blog. Good luck !!!

Handling text before publishing is not for the faint of heart. An online typographer is also a waste of time. Therefore, the simplest solution is to screw an automatic typographer to the engine used. For WordPress, there is already a variant from rmcreative, which includes a plugin that does this routine work for the author.

The difficulty here is that, firstly, blindly transposing the rules of "paper" typography on the screen may not only not increase readability, but also worsen it. Even the smartest script is not smarter than the editor - I talked about this in one of the previous notes about hyphenation when using justify. The second problem is that the application is too a large number rules of text processing degrade the performance of the operation and increase the volume of the source code (after all, for the same non-breaking spaces, you need to use the html-entity of the non-breaking space, and in large constructions you should not even use which is not valid but ).

On the plugin download page, the functionality is described in sufficient detail (although not everything is as cool as typograf.ru).

Basic functionality... Now all the dashes between words and in dialogues are real dashes, not a fragile hyphen. The digits, respectively, have a minus, which is aligned to the height of the digits. Around English words - English quotes, around Russian - Christmas trees, nested quotes - paws. Also, to save code, empty sequences are reduced, and a little something small. In headlines, by the way, the period at the end is cut off - such a nice little thing.

The second important thing in the main functionality is that all previous actions do not touch blocks of text inside
