To export a page with all its contents to the device memory, one of two formats is selected: HTML or PDF. In the case of the former, it is saved as an HTML document and a folder with additional files. When you choose PDF, you get a single document with all content.

In most situations, it is more convenient to work with a PDF file. It can be annotated in special readers and is easier to share with other people.

Using a standard browser function

Many popular browsers allow you to save pages as PDFs via the print menu. Enter it, being on the required page, using the combination Ctrl + P. After that, find the function of saving to PDF in the menu that opens and use it. The browser will not print anything, it will only save the PDF file to your computer.

In a special service

There are many sites on the web for saving web pages as PDF files. Here are just a few of them: Webpage to PDF, Free HTML to PDF Converter, Pdfcrowd, Online PDF Converter, Online-Convert.

They all work pretty much the same way. Open any service, paste the link to the desired page in its text field and click on the download button. The service will then save the PDF file to the device.

The layout of the pages converted in this way may differ from the original. But basic formatting, images and links are preserved. In addition, such services can be used both on a computer and on a mobile device.

In fact, few people know that to save any Internet page on any site in PDF file can be directly from your browser. This feature is supported by all modern browsers based on Chromium: Opera, Google Chrome, Yandex Browser and others. When you save a document, it is sent to a virtual printer, with the help of which the page is converted to PDF format. Now let's see how it all works in practice. 1. In order to save the web page you need to a PDF file, press the key combination "Ctrl + P" or go to the browser menu and select the "Print" item. 2. Now you will see the page for printing the document. If your computer uses printers to print documents, make sure you have the "Save as PDF" printer selected, if not, this printer will be enabled by default. Print document page in Google Chrome 3. If necessary, you can edit the future PDF document: remove / add background, remove extra pages in the document, if they are not needed, select the document format, remove the empty space (fields) between HTML elements. 4. Then we save the document using the “Save” button to your computer. The resulting document can be opened by any program that works with the PDF format. View a saved PDF document in 5. As you can see, everything is easy and simple. But! This method has several disadvantages. The resulting PDF document will be available in read-only mode. You will not be able to edit its text, as well as hyperlinks will not work in it.

Let's look at 3 ways to save files to your computer.

These methods can be applied not only to pdf format files, but also to other formats. Before saving, let's try to open the file, because why save a pig in a poke on your computer?

Let's start, as they say, from the stove. From the File menu.

What is the File menu

The main operations that you can do with any file are:

• create (file),
• open file),
• save file),
• save (file) as.

These options are usually always present in any program that is designed to work with files. For example, text editor designed to work with simple text files.

Therefore, in Notepad you can:

• create a new text file,
• open an already existing text file,
• save the text file under the old name in the old place, or
• save as - this option allows you to save a file with a new or old name in a new or old location.

There are programs designed to work with graphic files, audio, video files, etc. And in each of these programs you can create a file, open and save it on your computer.

For the convenience of users, options common to any files such as

• Create,
• Open,
• Save file,

in almost all programs are located in the File menu (or on english language for English-speaking programs: File).

This menu is usually located in the upper left corner of the window of the corresponding program (below the number 1 in Fig. 1).

How to open a pdf file

To open a .pdf file, you need to click on the file icon 2 times with the left mouse button, after which you can see what program this file will open on your computer.

If, when you try to open the pdf file, you see gibberish, then most likely this means that a program that can open the pdf format is NOT installed on your computer. In this case, you need to install on your computer, for example, free program Adobe Reader from the official site, for more details see

Method 1. Save the file on your computer using the File menu

Below in Fig. 1 on the first line shows:

• the little red icon that is the icon adobe programs Reader,
• name open file ("Computer and Internet Basics.pdf") and
• the name of the program (Adobe Reader), which recognized the pdf file as its own, "native blood", and therefore correctly, correctly opened it.

• Click on the File menu - number 1 in Figure 1.
• A drop-down menu will open, in which we click on the SaveAs option - number 2 in Fig. 1.
• A new window "Save As" appears (Fig. 2):

In the window shown in Fig. 2, select the location on your computer where you want to save the file:

• it can be the Desktop (number 1 in Fig. 2),
• or some folder, which can be found in the left column of the window in Fig. 2,
• or you can create a New folder, for example, on the Desktop, by clicking on button 2 in Fig. 2.

In addition to the place to save the file, it is also important to understand under what name this file will be saved (in order to later remember: "What was that? And why did I need it?"):

• you can leave the old name (number 3 in Fig. 2),
• or enter a new name by clicking in field 3 in Fig. 2,
• leave the "File type" field as it is, you do not need to change the data in this field - .pdf.

Having remembered the name of the file and the location that was chosen to save it, feel free to click on the "Save" button - number 4 in Fig. 2. For reassurance, you can now find and check on your computer for the presence of a new pdf file in the location specified when you saved it.

Method 2. Save the file on the computer using the PCM

RMB is an abbreviation for Right Mouse Button.

Right-clicking (RMB) opens a context menu that contains a list of all the options that can be done.

If you received a letter by e-mail and want to save this file on your computer, then:

• open the letter,
• find the icon with the attached file (as a rule, this is the paperclip icon),
• click on the paperclip icon with the right mouse button (RMB) - number 1 in Fig. 3:

A context menu will open, in which you need to click on the "Save as ..." option - number 2 in fig. 3.

Method 3. Use the Download button to save the file from mail

In fig. 3, the "Download" button is highlighted with the number 3. In different mails, the "Download" button may have a different look. We will consider some variants of this button below.

At the end of the letter there may be a thumbnail of the attached file. The mail services of Yandex, Google, Mail.ru and others tried to do everything so that it was intuitively understandable to any user, including a beginner.

Save the pdf file from Gmail mail (Google)

In Google (e-mail gmail.com) the file attached to the letter can look like a mini-picture, as in fig. 4 below:

Hover (just move) the mouse cursor over the thumbnail and the buttons immediately become active:

• Download - number 1 in fig. 4,

• Save to Yandex.Disk - number 2 in Fig. 4 (if you do not have Yandex.Disk, there will be no such button).

Click on the "Download" button, the "Save as" window will appear (Fig. 2), select the location on the computer, the file name and save the pdf file on your PC (personal computer).

In the mail Mile ru (mail.ru) we find the attached file at the end of the letter, click on the "Download" button (number 2 in Fig. 5).

In Yandex mail, click on the "Download" button (number 1 in Fig. 6), the "Save As" window will open (Fig. 2), select a folder on your PC, check the file name and click on the "Save" button.

As can be seen from the pictures in Fig. 4, 5, 6, in different mails the same principle works in order to save a file on your PC, which was sent by mail. The principle is that

Under Internet Explorer, to be honest, I didn’t find it, or rather I didn’t look for it, since I don’t use it.

Save a web page to PDF in Google Chrome

What I love about Google Chrome is that it has a built-in function to save a web page to PDF. And no need to install third party plugins. In order to use this function, you need to click on the button setting up and managing Google Chrome – Printing (or hotkeys CTRL +P).

In the print settings, you must change the device type (printer section). In my case it is worth canon printer LBP 6000B. I change it to Save asPDF.

After that, you can save any page of the website you like in pdf format by clicking on the button Save... And if you make settings in the secret functionality of Google Chrome, then your capabilities will increase several times.

Save a web page to PDF in Mozilla Firefox

Unlike Google Chrome, which has a built-in function to save a page to PDF, the Mozilla Firefox browser, unfortunately, does not. I hope the developers will further refine this flaw. But while the developers of the muff are drinking tea, we do not remain in trouble and despondency. There is a plugin Printpdf, with which you can save web page toPDF.

And for this you need to download it from of this page by pressing the button Add toFirefox... After you need to restart the browser and the save function in pdf format will become available to us. You can save a web page to pdf via the menu File - PrinttoPDF.

Plugin Printpdf can be configured to save images, as well as the header and footer of sites. Does it through the menu Tool - Add-ons, Printpdf plugin settings.

Save a web page to PDF in Opera

I don't want to ignore the Opera browser, as it has a similar plug-in that adds to the Opera's arsenal the function of saving a website page in PDF format. This extension is called Web2PDFConvert and it can be downloaded at this page ... It is advisable to download via opera browserby pressing the button Add toOpera.

After that, the extension button will appear in the top quick access panel, by clicking on which you can save the page in pdf. The page is converted into a document of the desired format.

This is how you can save web pages to PDF format in Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Google Chrome browsers without special applications and online services. These extensions need to be installed if you use this feature frequently. Since with a large number of installed extensions, the browser becomes bulky, unnecessary resources of the operating system are used and the browser takes a long time to load at startup. Save a web page to PDF in google browser Chrome

What I love about Google Chrome is that it has a built-in function for saving a web page to PDF as well as advanced address bar capabilities. And no need to install third party plugins. In order to use this function, you need to click on the setting and managing Google Chrome - Print button (or hot keys CTRL + P).

In the print settings, you must change the device type (printer section). In my case, there is a Canon LBP 6000B printer. I change it to Save as PDF.

After that, you can save any page of the website you like in pdf format by clicking the Save button. And if you make settings in the secret functionality of Google Chrome, then your capabilities will increase several times.

Save a web page to PDF in Mozilla Firefox
