Configuring the Zyxel Keenetic Lite 3 router

Settings

The universal and most economical version of the router for working with wired networks and the distribution of Wi Fi network in the kinetic family is Zyxel Keenetic Lite III. This device has a standard configuration (removable antenna, 5 LAN-connections and one WAN ports, diode information panel) and software. It can be easily customized even on its own, for which this step-by-step instruction has been developed.

First of all, we need to connect a router and conduct some network connection settings in the PC. To prepare a device for work Do the following:

Gently unpack Zyxel Keenetic Lite, get all the components and find the antenna among them;
On the rear panel of the router, find the hole in which after connect the repeater;
After installing the antenna, remove the power supply, insert the plug into the appropriate slot also on the rear panel and turn on the device to the network;
Distributed by color connector is designed for the incoming channel (WAN-port). Insert the cable from the Internet provider;
In one of the ports located nearby ports, insert the cord connecting the Zyxel Keenetic Lite router and your PC network card (included in the standard set - short);
We establish the extreme mode switch to the "main" position;
Press the power button and watch the indicator panel: Approximately, after 15-20 seconds, the beaches of the connected Internet line, 1 user and in some cases Wi-Fi should be loaded.

Now our router is ready to work. You must prepare and computer:

Turn on the PC and make sure it sees the connected network (the indicator in the lower right corner will display the connection status);
We open the control center with the right-click of this icon, then we are already looking for a blue network name (opposite the word "connection").
Click on it and then on the properties button;
You will arise another window with a list and the possibility of scrolling: we rinse it at the very end;
Having allocated the fourth version of the Internet protocol, the click of the property button calls a new window;
Set selectors to automatically get all parameters;
The same repeat for the sixth version of the protocol.

As soon as the manipulation described above is performed, you can go further.

Opening any of the installed Internet browsers (browsers), enter the following address in the address bar, allowing you to access the device software - 192.168.1.1

We open the browser, enter in the address bar http://192.168.1.1

After we need to do a number of operations:

Enter the "Admin" key in both authorization fields and click OK;
In the welcoming window that opens, select Web Configurator;
In response to the offer, we recommend immediately changing the password (this is the key to the device itself, and not Wi Fi or IPTV). Immediately after that, the router will reboot, and you will need to log in with the same login "Admin" and a new password;
Now you are the main web interface of the Zyxel Keenetic III router, pay attention to the menu (icons) from the bottom. In order to set up Internet Beeline, Rostelecom and any other, we will need one and the same second on the left tab in the form of a global network icon - Internet;
To configure all the main types of wired connections, go to the PPOE / VPN tab.

Now consider the setting of each type separately.

Dom.ru and Rostelecom | PPPoe

For PPEE: Such providers such as House.ru, Rostelecom use this standard.

Click on the button below the interface table and add a connection.
In the table that opens, the first thing is specifying the type of interest to us - PPPoE;
In the fields below, specify the data for authorization from the provider (login and password) specified in the contract. If there are no password documents - call customer support service, and it will be provided to you.
We check that in the first two selectors (at the beginning of the page), checkboxes "Enable" and "use" are set;
Apply the settings, check the availability of the Internet.

VPN.

For PPTP: A fairly popular protocol that uses VPN servers.

Add a new connection;
Install the type of protocol;
If a separate interface was created, specify in the appropriate line that Zyxel Keenetic Lite III should use it, and not standard "Broad Connection ...";
As well as in the previous case, enter authorization data;
Test an automatic setting of IP parameters.
The remaining fields like the method of protection and service names change only at the request of the provider (if specified in the instructions);
We save the settings, check the performance of the connection;

Beeline | L2TP

For L2TP: a new and promising type on which the Beeline networks work. The setting is practically no different from PPTP.

We click on the creation of a new connection;
Select the L2TP type protocol;
We leave the standard interface;
We find a VPN address in the contract, which then specifies in the corresponding server address field;
Personal authorization data from the contract;
IP must be configured automatically;
Select the defense method based on the data in the instructions from the provider (or call customer support service);
The rest of the fields do not touch, apply the settings;
Check the availability of the Internet from Beeline;

If the connection has not appeared, either the router has already been adjusted earlier, because of which you did not manage to establish a connection, you can reset the installation of ZyXel Keenetic Lite III to the factory parameters and try again. The easiest way to do this is to find a reset on the rear panel, over which the button is in-depth into the case. To click on it, take a handle or something else with a thin rod. Hold in the clamping position this button 10-15 seconds. The router will reboot and start again with the initial parameters.

Wi-Fi Setup

Wi Fi Communication is the type of radio waves for which Internet data packets towards the user and router are transmitted. To configure a new WiFi channel, you must open the web configurator again: enter the device's IP address in the address bar, we go to authorization with a new password, we find the "Wi Fi" item in the lower menu, click on it.

The opened window contains the wireless connection settings pool is the same for any provider, be it Beeline, MTS or Rostelecom:

Network Name - We register from the lowercase letters (some devices do badly perceive the names with the title) name for your access point. You will see it in a computer and smartphone, opening a list of available Wi Fi connections;
The network key indicates the field to enter a connections password. Write down in it a combination of letters and numbers, which will be remembered well and will not allow a stranger to connect to your WiFi router.
As a method of data protection, we install the most effective WPA2-PSK encryption protocol, which will protect information from theft (Rostelecom independently encrypts the incoming and outgoing Wi Fi traffic);
The channel selection can be provided with a router, leaving the "Auto" value in the appropriate field, and can be installed on your own. It costs it only when there are too many networks working in 1 channel (in this case, the speed of your connection will be low, check previously);
The rest of the fields do not touch.

Apply changes. On this setting Wi Fi for Zyxel Keenetic Lite is over.

P.S. Many branded routers, in the number of devices from Rostelecom, have a pre-configured wireless connection, whose data (name and password) are listed on the bottom panel (bottom). But after the data reset, these settings will disappear.

IP-TV Setup

To view IPTV from companies Beeline or Rostelecom, you need to spend several simple manipulations:

We enter the web interface of the router, then go to the Internet tab of the bottom menu;
Select the Connection and Click on the previously configured Broadcom Connection in the top menu;
Sliding a tick in the selector of one of the additional slots, in addition to WLAN (in the first line);
Apply the changes and insert the cable for IPTV into the selected slot.

These settings can be carried out, both via a wired compound and via WiFi. For more information, it is necessary to refer to the papers supplied by the provider, especially if you have Rostelecom. And on this complex configuration of the Zyxel Keenetic Lite router is over! All other functions, including RDP, will become available without additional manipulations.
