We leave the size as it is (for the entire disk), we also do not change the file system, as well as the cluster size. We assign the letter and label at our discretion.

If you plan to use the disk to install the operating system, then it must be made Primary, this is important.

Preparation is over, press "To complete".

Application of operations

In the upper left corner there are buttons to cancel actions and apply pending operations. At this stage, you can still go back and correct some parameters.

Everything suits us, so click on the big yellow button.

Creating a Windows backup

In the True Image window, we need the first section. Click “Whole Computer”.

In our case, only the Windows system partition is backed up, so the further choice will be, respectively, "Disks and Partitions".

In the window for selecting a backup source, tick only system partition C... Click "Ok".

In the window for choosing a backup destination, you must specify the location where the copy of Windows will be stored. The program provides for saving a copy during its creation on:

• local computer space,
• removable media (USB-HDD),
• network resources, in particular, in the Acronis cloud storage.

What's better? Cloud storage from the creator of the program is practically imposed on users, since this pleasure is paid. However, the cloud service from Acronis, or any other web resource are not the most reliable places for storing data if there is no high-speed Internet. And how can an inoperative Windows be able to connect to the Internet in some cases? Connecting to local network resources can also be problematic. The most reliable place to store your backups is an additional internal or external hard drive. A non-system partition on the same hard disk where the system partition with Windows is located is not the best storage place, because if this disk fails, you will be left without backups.

In our case, there is no external hard drive, but there is a connected internal HDD, therefore, in the backup destination window, select "Browse".

One of the partitions on the second internal HDD will be specially designated for storing Windows backups and we will call this partition Backup to make it easier to navigate during recovery. If, when choosing a storage location for a backup in the tree structure of the computer, disk partitions are not expanded, the specific path to the storage folder can be entered in the column above with the inscription "Save a copy to:"... After choosing the storage location for the copy, click "OK".

Next, we will see the window for starting the process of creating a backup. In the left corner at the bottom of the window there is the "Options" option, this is the Acronis True Image configuration functionality that allows you to set flexible options - for example, set a periodic backup on a schedule or select an incremental backup method when only changes are made to each next copy. Also in the parameters, you can exclude certain types of files or directories from the backup, set up duplicate copies in an alternative location, select a low priority for Acronis True Image to allocate computer resources for parallel operations, etc.

In our case, we will not resort to additional settings, but we will immediately start creating a backup copy. We press the button "Create a copy". By the way, Acronis True Image allows you to postpone this moment for several hours in the drop-down list of this button.

During the creation of a backup, at any time, you can tick off the computer shutdown and go about your business.

After the operation is completed, the backup copy will appear in the window of the first section of the program. In the same section, you can start the process of restoring from a backup - even Windows, at least individual files.

In our case, we will not start the Windows recovery process inside the installed program. Let's complicate the task and create Acronis True Image bootable media in order to consider the process of restoring non-bootable Windows.

Create bootable media

To create bootable media, go to the "Tools" tab of the program and select Bootable Media Builder.

Since the free trial version of Acronis True Image 2016 is limited to a one-month trial period, this process should not be delayed. By the way, the bootable media will allow you to restore Windows, but being created as part of the free trial version of the program, it will not allow you to create a backup, as provided in the full version of Acronis True Image 2016.

We choose the first type of bootable media.

In the next window, you need to select the medium itself - a DVD, USB flash drive or ISO file for storage and subsequent recording on any of the media. If you select a DVD or USB flash drive, Acronis True Image will carry out the burning process itself. Keeping an entire USB flash drive for a rainy day will surely be an excessive luxury for many. It would be more practical for these purposes to allocate a DVD or create an ISO file that can, for example, be stored on another computer and at the right time written to a USB flash drive. Plus, Acronis True Image does not know how to create UEFI flash drives, and computers with UEFI BIOS will in any case need software with the ability to create bootable UEFI flash drives.

In our case, select the ISO file and indicate the path to save it.

We press the button "Proceed".

The bootable media has been created.

Windows recovery

Suppose that same rainy day has arrived and Windows won't boot. We go into the BIOS and set the computer to boot from a DVD or flash drive created in Acronis True Image. The start window of the bootable media will offer several options for further actions, of which you must select launch Acronis True Image 2016 with the appropriate bit depth.

In the recovery window, click either "Update backups"so that Acronis True Image finds files of its own format by itself, or using the button "Search for a backup" specify the path to the desired file.

As soon as the backups appear in the Acronis True Image window, open the necessary context menu and click "Restore".

Choosing a recovery method: in our case, we are talking about resuscitating Windows, and not folders and files, so we choose "Recover disks and partitions"... Click "Next".

Selecting items to recover: in this window, tick both the system partition C and the MBR boot record. Click "Next".

In the window for specifying recovery settings, in our case, no changes will be made, and, in principle, something will have to be changed unless if Windows is transferred as a separate partition to another connected hard drive. Click "Next".

If several internal hard drives are connected to the computer, then Acronis True Image will ask you to specify one of them to restore the MBR boot record. We indicate and click "Next".

Preparation is completed, we can proceed directly to the Windows recovery process.

The window for performing the restore operation is equipped with options to automatically restart and shutdown the computer after the process is complete. You can use them if necessary.

Now we can set the BIOS to boot from the hard drive again and test the reanimated Windows.

Acronis, system backup by creating a disk image.

Acronis True Image Home, allows you to create backups of disks and generally create Backup‘S any valuable data. This is a very effective method of dealing with various systemic problems, i.e. in case of system failures, having an image created with the help, you can always fully restore the system's performance and all programs and files that were before the failure at the time of the image creation. Unlike most of the programs that I described on this site, this program, unfortunately, is not free, but it is completely in Russian. She stands 1000 rubles. However, in this article I will use trial (limited in time) version of the program. This version is enough to learn how to use its capabilities.

Select the full version during installation (not regular or custom)... The key, if you do not have it, you do not need to enter.

After installation, we restart the computer and after restarting we launch the program by clicking on the shortcut Acronis True Image Home 2010 (important, namely Acronis True Image Home 2010, but not Acronis One-Click Backup) ... In the window that opens, press the button " Try! ”. We politely refuse the offer to immediately create a disk image by pressing the button “ Cancellation«.
You can work with the program as from a boot disk (pre-creating it), and from the system itself (by running the program in Windows, as in our case)... My opinion is that it is better to work with a boot disk, since in this case all sorts of processes affecting hard drives will not be launched, which means that the chance of creating an image without any lags increases. This is possible only as a reassurance on my part, since the programmers who wrote have brought the algorithms for creating backup copies to extraterrestrial reliability.But this is my opinion and based on it I will write about creating backups from a boot disk from, and not from under the system itself. Well, those who nevertheless decide to work from under the system, I think they will easily do everything themselves, since the program is completely in Russian, and this instruction is almost completely suitable for this option.

Creating a disk image with Acronis.

First, of course, we need to create, in fact, the boot disk itself, from which we will boot. For this purpose, in the window, go to a tab such as Tools and utilities – Create bootable media... Here:

• On the first three tabs, we click all the time only “ Further«.
• On the fourth, choose “ CD burner", I.e. drive unit. Having selected it with the mouse, click " Further«.
• It remains to insert clean CD-drive into the drive and press " Proceed«.
• After the end of the recording, click on the button OK.

Further, so that the download occurs from the just recorded CDand not from the hard drive (otherwise, windows will start as always) we need to go to BIOS (DEL button at the very beginning of computer boot), find there a section with approximately the name Bootand select your first download source there. CD-ROM... Having done all these manipulations, we save the changes and restart the computer. In Windows 7, you can also click at the start of the download F8 and immediately select the download there from CD-ROM.
If you did everything correctly, the program window will load, in which we select Acronis True Image Home.

In the window of the loaded program, select the item "Backup” – « Disks ".

On the next tab, the circle " Create a new backup archive»Do not touch and leave everything as it is. Next, we need to specify where the backup will be saved (I recommend specifying an external hard drive)... To do this, press the button " Overview"And indicate the path. Yes, I almost forgot ... Recovering from a disk image using Acronis.

Of course, I would never wish you to restore your system, but you never know how life will turn to you. There is nothing complicated about it.

The program has the ability to recover only certain files and folders from a disk image, and not the entire system. As I wrote above, I want to once again draw your attention to the fact that when restoring the system from an image, it will be restored in the same form in which it was at the time of the backup, i.e. everything that you installed or altered, reconfigured after creating a backup copy will be irretrievably lost. Therefore, in order to prevent this, it is necessary to take care of timely updating or creating a backup copy of the system or files. You can also restore not the entire disk image (or system or partition) entirely, but only the files you need, for example, you can restore only system folders Windowsif you have a simple system crash.

In the main window of the program, click on the Create bootable media button.

I select the drive and create a bootable disk with Acronis True Image 13. If you want to create a bootable USB flash drive, connect it and it will appear in this window. Further.

You can also recover Windows 8 using Acronis True Image 13 from a running system, launch True Image 13 and select recover.

Caution: If you backed up only the C: drive, then all data on it will be replaced with data from the backup. If you created a backup archive of the entire hard disk, then all information on your hard disk will be replaced by the data from the backup.

But usually, they resort to recovery using Acronis True Image in extreme cases, that is, when the laptop does not boot at all and you cannot do without the program's boot disk.

Imagine this situation, our laptop does not boot! This can happen for many reasons. For example, we experimented with creating new partitions on our laptop and accidentally deleted the service partition with Windows 8 boot files. Or you decided to reinstall Windows 8 on Windows 7, but something didn't work out and now nothing boots on your laptop, except for errors on the black screen. Or maybe you have successfully reinstalled Windows 8 on Windows 7, but after using the seven for a while, you decided to return the laptop to its original factory state.

For example, for an experiment, I deleted all partitions on the laptop hard drive

and now I will carry out the recovery operation. I want to keep you from such experiments, no need to mock your laptop unnecessarily.

Note: To restore from a backup archive, first of all, you need to enter the UEFI BIOS of our laptop and disable the "Secure Boot" option ( you do not need to disable the UEFI option! ),

We find the Windows 8 backup archive. It is located on our USB portable hard drive My Passport (E :), in the My backups \\ TOSHIBA MQ01

Select it with the left mouse and click OK.

We put a tick on the item "In sector-by-sector mode"

Check the box "Disk 1" and all other sections

Check the box "Recover disk signature" and click Next.

The program shows what and in what order it will restore. Proceed.
