When updating from Wi-Fi (especially with a weak signal), there is a chance that the firmware will not have time to fully download from the desired server (the server closes the connection due to a prolonged download session), after which a part of the “broken” file remains on the set-top box, which will be loaded into flash memory. Accordingly, when the bootloader starts, the firmware will not be loaded correctly, but will give the error “firmware is corrupted”. This is solved by re-downloading the firmware (there are usually no problems on the second attempt). Or update only when the Wi-Fi signal is good.

We connect the STB (set-top box, receiver) to the FIRST (!) LAN port. The one that is used for the Internet. LG developers are preparing to release a new hardware "stuffing" for these TVs. Perhaps only after that the problem will be solved.

Why, while watching a movie, the quality is either normal or becomes noticeably worse? Then all is well again...


This may be due to the overload of the servers themselves, with problems with the provider, with problems in any link of the route. The application automatically selects the playback bitrate based on the speed of the channel to the server that delivers the content. The prefix adjusts to the speed of your Internet connection. If the speed "sags", then the picture quality is automatically reduced so that the film does not start to slow down, "stutter" and so on. Let's say a torrent from a home computer completely clogs the channel. This is just an example - the speed can drop for various reasons. By the way, this feature can be disabled in "Settings" -> "My settings" -> "TV quality monitoring".

By the way, the bitrate decreases even at the moment of restarting the pppoe session (when the modem is rebooted, for example).
